It is always best to forge your own path toward greatness.
We all have a 'book of life' (path) that we must walk.

Unfortunately, there are some want the same path as yours, without the hard work and dedication that went into it!

They wish to skip some of the steps.

Sam, to me, a principle (standard) I use is,

If someone is more knowledgeable than I, I learn, I become a member of that team, I hitch my wagon to that horse,

I don't become angry or resentful, for this is a sign of 'victimazation'.
I understand.

It makes no sense to become angry or bitter.

In the past, I will use my feelings of inadequacy as motivation to make myself better.

As I have said before, if doing the right thing was easy, if using discipline & dedication as tools to create success for yourself was easy, then everybody would do it.
Also, whites (not all) are our enemy, they want the same, as most of us.

Just working to keep a roof over their heads, feed their kids, and retire!

I have had as many white folks support me as I have had black folks.

When someone with common sense sees another person with common sense, allies are quickly & easily formed.

In such matters, color & gender become irrelevant. It becomes a matter of let's work together and win.

Kenny,

You've stated before that you live in a 'white neighborhood', as tho, that's a plus.

Why does it matter that your neighborhood is white, why not, I live in a good area?
My neighborhood is majority white so I guess you can consider it a white neighborhood. My fellow blacks who live there, along with my Asian, latin, and indian neighbors don't consider it a white neighborhood, nor have I ever called it a white neighborhood on this forum.

To answer your question it doesn't matter that my neighborhood is white. I found a house I liked in a good school district with low crime. It happened to be in a neighborhood that was majority white. Whiteness had no bearing on my choice to buy a house and live there

Many people, regardless of their color, are fearful.

Many people fear success...because they fear failure more than success.

Many people have to fail before they can succeed.

People go through a few failures, then throw in the towel.

Some people get a taste of success, suffer a setback or two, then wallow in self-pity.

Some people are so self-defeating, they will put more energy crying about why they had no chance at winning than they ever did in trying to win in the first place.

Those same losers will also put more energy into being victims, or wanting to lash out at others for being successful instead of making themselves better.

The truth is that such self-defeating people are only motivated by manifesting the concept of the self-fulfilling prophecy.
Sam,

One of the main reasons most don't even try, is because of the confusion regarding the word 'success'.

Success, to most, is viewed as being rich? owning a large home? nice car?

vs

feeding your family, paying off a mortage, clothing your children, graduating college, etc..

I own, repeat OWN, a nice home, as a result of hard work. I wanted to be the example for my future generations, not some actor, rapper, or ghetto millionaire.

At my core, success for me is being able to provide for my family.

My family knows that so long as I am around, I will take care of everything.

Being a reliable, dependable provider & protector are core concepts for me.

I remember you stating that you live in a white neighborhood, that's why I mentioned it.

Nevertheless, we agree. Seek a neighborhood that reflects what you need/want.

Safety (low crime) was one of our prime reasons for moving to our area.

I've never stated I lived in a white neighborhood. I've stated that I live in a mixed neighborhood or I've stated that I don't live in the hood. Never have I referred to my neighborhood as white. Your memory is a little off, no offense

I hope that your future generations will follow your lead. Sometimes it's a good example to see it in action first hand, vs only hearing about it.

Watching my older brother graduate in the face of every day, being called 'nigger', seeing two of my aunts forgo marriage for college, mother going back to school (at 50) to get her degree, were the best examples for me!

So far, my two daughters, are making me proud, and easing my anxiety level, :)

No offense taken Kenny.

Your response was not mean, simply a response.
