The government doesn't create companies directly. But if you're really asking, the government can create the infrastructure needed for businesses to have access to certain areas. Government can create focus on an area which stimulates business or job creation by entrepreneurs or companies. Governments can pass laws or certain mandates that in turn create jobs to fulfill that manage that mandate. For example, Californians passed a proposition that requires porn industry to wear condoms. An enterprising man or woman could incorporate themselves as a business to verify its occurring in the industry. Maybe I'll do it........ Ew, nope, not me. But one could. |

They already give the States funding for highways/bridges. Now...if the States choose to divert those funds then whose at fault? And you're wrong about the limitations on Govt funded jobs. The Govt is capable of funding any demand for labor in any arena. |

Does. The correct sentence is "What kind of jobs does the government create." The reason why it is "does" is because Government is written here in singular. Now, if you would have said "governments" with a plural then you could have used "do" as in "What kinds of jobs do Governments create?" Understand? |

Suggestion: Why not allow the Fed govt to supply each state with the funds needed to operate, based on the population of each state? Fair and balanced....not hardly. The govt creates/retains all sorts of labor. Don't fool your self into thinking big Corps function alone. If they don't get Fed funding of sorts( like the oil subsidies) there's always the tax breaks, write offs, bad debt write offs, employee tax write offs.....need I go on? Those things are what I consider Corp welfare. By the time they get thru with all the write-offs and interest accrued etc etc their bottom line is fat and taxes paid to the gov almost nil in many cases. But on the "brighter side" that's what keeps people working. I have worked for 3 major entities in my career, State Govt, 2 fortune 500 Company;s in their Investigations, Accounting depts., so I know what goes on. |

So true, Ms. Mimi. I think getting rid of some of that would go a long way towards taking care of the growing deficit issue. |
