Simplest reason why Romney lost

The simplest reason why Romney lost was because it is impossible to compete against free stuff. Obama’s America is one in which free stuff is given away: 20% of the population is so poor that they need the government to help them buy basic food supplies (although ironically we are by far the fattest people on the planet). The people who receive two years of unemployment benefits, who want free health care, who want Obama to help pay their mortgages, who look for the government to create government jobs for them, etc. This is why Romney lost.

The lure of free stuff is irresistible. And once it's given way, you can't stop it, without a riot.

Almost half of the population has no skin in the game. They don’t care about high taxes, promoting business, or creating jobs. They don't care that the money for their free stuff is being borrowed from their children and from the Chinese. They just want the free stuff that comes their way.

Think of two restaurants side by side. One sells its customers food at a reasonable price, and the other offers a free buffet, all-you-can-eat as long as supplies last. Few people would resist the attraction of the free food. Now imagine that the second restaurant stays in business only because the first restaurant is forced to provide it with the food for the free buffet. This is the current economy, until, at least, the first restaurant decides to go out of business (which is beginning to happen with the layoffs).

Then, the government takes over.

This sounds like exactly what a commentator in one of those conservative pro-Romney talk shows said.

Romney lost because he couldn't connect with most Americans. If voters had fallen in love with him, Obama's getting 93% of the black vote wouldn't have been enough to garner a second term.

And his 47% attitude didn't help either.
