"Democrat" is not a Protected Class. Depending upon the state, they are most likely "At Will" employees meaning they can be fired at will, no notice is necessary and no reason is necessary. They can also quit without notice and without reason.
Exactly. I believe this is a relatively, small privately owned business.

LyyLoretta the people that got fired don't know why they got fired, so they can't filed a discrimination lawsuit.
They may not know why they were fired, but he has to report to the Labor dept and justify such and it better be a damn good reason or they won't be able to collect UnEmp. That's where the lawsuit comes in.
All he have to say is my business was slow and I had to let them go. He gave them a 2 week notice.
He has to prove it.....I see you have never been a business owner. A "mass" lay-off the day after the election sounds a wee bit far fetched. On the flip side if he had noticed the bumper stickers before the election why not fire them at that time all of this action falls under the freedom of speech act......

The employees were/are able to voice their opinion via a bumper sticker without retribution from the employer,. I'll have to look for the specific bill but employees are protected from harassment regarding voting, religious, personal/ private lifestyle preferences. This act IF true is from the stone age days ......that's probably where you concocted this lie. Why isn't it on the news?
Can his employees prove that they were fired because they were Obama supporters? He told his friend that he fired them because they were Obama supporters, but he didn't tell them that.

If you owned a small beauty shop and found out (by looking at car stickers) that one of your employees was a right-wing nut job (her personal/private lifestyle preference), what would you think? Knowing that your expenses would shoot up the next year due to required health insurance costs, you realize that you will need to fire an employee in order to balance your books.

Which one of your employees goes first?

Should she have legal job rights protection? Or should you have the right to make this decision for your own small business?

Democrat is not the issue. Political affiliation period would be he issue. As far as political affiliation as a protected class is concerned, at one time Blacks, women, disabled, and the elderly were not protected classes to name a few. The shit didn't just happen over night. It started somewhere, someone took a stand, someone stood up and called bullshit.

I've already pushed the At Will angle. But you forget that discrimination does that override At Will. If a person or group can convince a lawyer and court that they were terminated due to discrimination then a lawsuit can still be filed against the company. For example, I work for in an At Will state. If my boss walked up to the today and fired me he has the power to do so. However, if I can prove he fired me because I was a Black Democrat who was treated differently from his White Republican workers then I can file a suit. Even better if I find out a me, another group of Black Democrats and any Latino who wasn't voting for Romney or fuck head Ted Cruz was also fired then we can really get that ball going.

A lot of people tend to think that At Will business can do whatever the hell they want and there's nothing you can do about it. Bullshit. That's the type of thinking that makes people fired for being Black, being Latino, being homosexual, being old, being disable, hell, being slightly overweight, fired over fucking Calvin Pissing On Ford bumper stickers just sit back and accept it.

Being black is part of a protected class. Democrat is not.

True, the fight against discrimination has to begin somewhere. Political Affiliation is protected in some cases.
