The bondsman could also save money by advertising on urban radio stations because the more mainstream, or white, may charge him more to advertise on their stations. I see more bail bondsman commercials on local TV stations (that show Maury, Jerry Springer, and various small claims court shows), and I have seen not one on major TV stations (NBC, CBS, & ABC). Just food for thought. |

Big leap there, Sam, very big leap...perhaps you can explain bcuz I couldn't see a grounds for assuming your premise. since we don't know how many hundreds of thousands of White kid's listen to/watch those stations...Thereby increasing Advertising costs, along the business model lines you mention. all we know is that the hip-hop stations are MAINLY what the few Black males listen to. We also don't know how many whites are listening to the black station either, and we know they're always trying to follow our musical lead. But, I'm not sure it matters. The dude said he's only advertising on that one station - it's a color-thing. Don't know if its green or black.

I would not call it a leap. Many such businesses will start off promoting themselves in urban areas. The viewers of white radio stations may have a fit listening to bail bondsman commercial between Barry Manilow, Neil Diamond, & Sting. I would imagine urban radio stations not charging as much to advertisers. Fox TV network started off catering to urban audiences before showing their true colors, and going mainstream. Every radio station has an age/sex/class/ethnic demographic. Listeners of Kenny Loggins songs may not have a need to hear a commercial of a bail bondsman....unless they are arrested for beating up their wives after their football team lost on Sunday. Did you know that Superbowl Sunday is a prime day 911 operators receive calls for domestic violence? Not wanting to upset their demographic, despite evidence to the contrary, many white stations would not allow such advertisers to promote themselves unless big money is involved. Also keep in mind that whites, ghetto fabulous Asians, & Latinos also listen to urban radio. A large chunk of college age youth of all shades listen to black radio. I am not disputing your premise, I am just adding another dimension to it. |

I don't see the relevance, so please help me understand. For instance, we know many Whites are listening to The other Caucasoida -stations (Rave, Heavy Metal, etc.) which feat. more violence, thereby, more criminality and more arrests...yet, no Bail-Bondsman Ads, on those stations??? ...hmmm... Though the music is black, it doesn't mean the audience is all black. In all honesty, the Bails Bondsman is not fully responsible for the placement of the ad. The Account Executive, who works for the station, probably drove the sale. I'm not trying to get off the issue of race, I just think its multi-faceted. Edited by VoiceofReason, Oct 21 2012, 07:16 PM.
