You idiot. House music isn't disco...LOL...stick to your N.Dallas country-bumpk music.

What about early Prince?

You idiot. Prince dropped his debut around 1978-'79, when he was around 17-18 yrs old------no way possible that any teenage-artists were trying to have a disco career in '78

Snide,

What qualifies as disco, to you? House/disco music was played at Studio 54, bath houses, and at 'vogue' shows, but it's really a combo of funk and rock?

We all know the 'basic' disco artists, however do you consider Got to Give It Up, by Marvin as disco?

What about early Prince?

I like disco and some house music, and have even been to a couple of raves in my day! :D

Didn't fit in, you needed to be high on X or drunk...
Disco has what I would say is a je ne sais quoi. A quality that is hard to pin down and thoroughly define but you know it when you know disco.

At this point you may be going, ohh bullshit. :D Well the standard definitions may say something like a danceable form of music done to a 4 on the floor or 4/4 rhythm style, often accompanied by hi-hat percussion.
That's the technical part. Of course it's much more. Different artist, different styles of music, and different parts of the world infused various styles. This made the music really dynamic.
The queen of disco herself often went way beyond the defined boundaries of disco. One of her classics, I Feel Love, introduced a whole new genre not realized till 20 years later, hi-energy.

Be that as it may, as with so many things in life it's the experience that will tell what is or isn't disco.

I give example that are all over the map.
