Now I'm gonna leave the states. This is Jamaican reggae style disco. It was a huge club hit. Yes it is disco but you can clearly hear the reggae undertones. By the way, I was looking for the longer version with a it's nice acapella intro but no luck. |

From Cameroon, this song a lot of people say is the first disco song with it's 4/4 beat. Don't know but I still heard it mixed in the clubs several years after it's release. |

From europe, britain to be specific, one of the biggest disco bands, average white band. The brits always did a great job with music and quite frankly imo, they helped keep dance music alive in the 80s. AWB was as good as they get. The did a lot of great songs from ballads to this classic, Pick Up The Pieces. |

Ok, I'm on a roll Let me return to the states and present one of disco's biggest diva, the late Sylvester. He made some wonderful music. You Make Me Feel Might Real is my favorite though. It's on every other compilation I make for my listening in the car. |

So a movie I'd recommend that somewhat captures the period is "54". I know Saturday Night Fever is contemporaneous, but there were certain elements in that movie that bugged me. The music was great though. Summer Lovers, a 1982 film, wasn't disco per se but it captured some of the hedonism and feel of the period. Roll Bounce was good because there was a movie which actually had a mostly black folks though set in a roller disco venue. Great music with this movie as well. "54" however was probably the best overall in my opinion. I could relate to the main character because among a few things we were the same age for that period in time. The best thing is probably to watch them all. |

So speaking of the music from Saturday Night Fever, there was a lot of good stuff. I'll pick the Bee Gees here since everyone thinks Bee Gees when disco is mentioned. |

Here's the quintessential diva doing one of my top ten disco songs "The Boss". It's one of the rare disco songs where I prefer the shorter album version. PS, can you guess the backup vocals? Hint, they wrote the song |
