I think I don't understand what is considered Disco. KC & the Sunshine Band's music? I thought it was just Pop, and that Disco had that beat that went in forever.
I remember K.C. stating on TV that his music is soul.

He considered his material to be soul music.
Don't doubt that he would have. For some, soul had a connotation of being "serious" music.
That said, I don't think anyone wouldn't think most of what kc did was disco. Who knows, I know for a while in the 90s when there was a mini revival he probably embraced the disco label.

You're right,

Because I certainly did not see it as disco. Get Down Tonight was my favorite, and it sounded like soul music to me.

So do you feel like this is soul, disco, or doesn't matter?

Yep.

That sounded like soul to me too. :)

But Get Down Tonight was my favorite. :)

So I saw a VH-1 special on The Village People. If I remember the story right, "In The Navy" was supposed to be a recruitment commercial. Apparently Navy brass who were as hip as 1870s style of dress saw the video and said...nahhhh! They didn't even know who The Village People were apparently :D

Anyway, here are my 2 favorites from them:

Gotta love the double entendre with "signing up new seamen fast" :D

And for those really into disco, San Francisco/Hollywood was a club classic as well:

oops, that Village People song with San Francisco/Hollywood wasn't in the youtube link. That's a problem with trying to find some of this stuff. Some of it is unavailable or hard to find. In any event, the medley is nice, take my word for it :)
