Brother Z - you touched my soul.....

I hate diamonds for personal reasons... but all of this information helps fuel my refusal to own or wear them.

:)

Thanks for posting.

You're very welcome, lil' sister. Sometimes we allow ourselves to be commercialized with things like diamonds, and many other things.
My wife has been whining about getting a new ring and i have ignored her. I'm not spending no 3 grand on a damn new ring. I don't feel a ring makes a marriage. It's just something to show off.
Hey Rick, you could use that money for essentials after being married. And if it weren't needed for that, you could just save it. Wise people are awake to or awakening from the commercialization of certain days or occasions. They program people to think they need to perform certain rituals to correspond to an occasion. It's just part of the capitalist scheme. Some will break free and some won't.

Knowing full well they will not make us happy - either.....

True, so true.

:)
Part of the psych is to convince you that it will add to/enhance your happiness as well, good point.

Hey Rick, that's another consideration, keep it real. That's a significant expense and the question is, is it worth it?

I wouldn't tell another man if it's worth it or not. For millionaires, it's nothing. To the average hard working man, it's a lot.

I wouldn't tell another man either, Rick. It's a question that all must ask themselves, and only he can answer. I hear what you're saying, it is a lot.

Diamonds are one of the least useful lumps of condensed rock with the highest price. The price is pure fiction. Lies and distortions have caused the price of something you shouldn't really give a fuck about to skyrocket to insane prices. Media shoves into your brain that you must buy a diamond to prove your love to said person to the point everyone sees that as a sign of love. Ha!

It's all advertising. A less expensive example. Movies, popcorn, and a drink. I even watched a video on how they used advertising to brainwash people into believing that they must have popcorn and a drink if they were to truly enjoy a movie even when the movies were like 30 minutes long.
