This website also said the samething. They asked did negative talk about Gabby hair cause her to lose? http://thegrio.com/2012/08/07/gabby-douglas-historic-olympic-run-ends-controversy-follows/ Edited by Marcus, Aug 8 2012, 01:51 AM.

First of all, the supporters of Gabby Douglas hair made the whole situation worst. Had the angry black people let those comments stay on Twitter and Facebook and ignore them and not allow them to end up in MAKING NEWS in the mainstream media, than I don't think it would be as big of an issues as it has become. Once black people started bitching about those comments is when the mainstream media picked it up. In my opinion maybe Gabby should have been shielded from looking at any negative information until after her competition was through. But I don't think the comments had anything to do with her not winning on the balance beam. |

I think it could of been a distraction to her. People should have realized she is just a kid and those comments could of very well affected her self confidence. |

Well Gabby Douglas did not say that the comments about her hair had anything to do with her coming in last on the balance beam competition. So it can't be said that those hair comments had a impact unless you are calling her a liar. |

This the last thing I have to say about this matter. When you see a young woman with such grace, athleticism, amazing skills and makes American history, and in a sports competition the last thing anyone should worry about is there hair. |

OMG there must be nothing else to talk about on these blogs. No gymnast is going to win every single event they're in. The hair thing wouldn't have even been an issue if blogs never brought it up in the first place so if they are going to blame anyone they need to blame themselves.... |

I'm pretty damn positive Gabby has received flack from all sorts of people including Whites when she was the only damn Black girl in gymnastics. If people she doesn't even know, Black or otherwise, attacking her hair causes her to flip into panic mode then perhaps she wasn't as ready for the Olympics as she thought. |

That's true. (ahem) But..... I was watching yesterday and her hair was a little tore up - that pony tail with the extra tail...she should have just made a bun, or held the pony tail down with bobby pins or clips. Just keeping it real, and I fault her mom. Instead of just attacking the haters (although I wouldve done the same thing), she should have took an extra minute and pinned that ponytail.

you made a very good point. i think this is why she got the hair criticism. it looked like she just didn't care. it did look bad last night and i can see why you had black people focused some much on it. i am not talking about the need of a hair perm or hair weave, but her hair could have been a lot more neater than it was. |
