Gabby's mom dropped the ball on this. I don't expect that white family to understand the hair needs of black people. But there got to be someone black in Iowa that could have helped out.

Seriously? YOU'RE gonna weigh in on this? Talking about the needs of "Black" people?

What is your hair looking like these days, I wonder...

It stands to reason that Black folks' obsession over hair is largely due to CENTURIES of constant affirmation of Caucasoid (European/Anglo-Arab) beauty standards that make Blacks uncomfortable in their own skin and hair.

We should be hip to the manipulative psychology that generates and exploits the illusory insecurities Blacks internalize about their PHYSICAL APPEARANCE in the areas of:

1) Skin color
2) Hair texture
3) Nose shape/size

Blacks need to develop a back-bone and exude CONFIDENCE that comes with SELF-AFFIRMATION. Silly discussions like the one about Gabby's hair would cease to exist.

Ouch Cray...

That hurts...

I know right... all those men and women talking about her hair can't do any of that.

Gabby Douglas mother said that people attacking Gabby's hairstyle could effect her performance. This is her mother comment below that I found.

How ignorant is it of people to comment on her hair and she still has more competitions to go. Are you trying to ruin her self confidence? She has to go out there and feel good about herself, and if she feels good about herself on that floor, who are you to criticize her? What have you done to help contribute to her dream, that you felt it necessary to put it out there so that she could see it.”

The relatives on that side of the family would not dare let me go out of the house like that. So yeah! You of all people know my story when it comes to hair.

Especially since there is very little they can do with the beauty that God created them to be, they should be happy in their uniqueness and not be ashamed of it because they have nothing to be ashamed of.

WonderWoman, there isn't a race on the planet that possesses the diversity of phenotypes that exist within the Black race. The AfRAkan race is the ONLY race that has the genetic codes to produce everyone else. No other race on the planet can produce BLACK people. We've occupied time and space a lot longer than the other races---way-y before their mutations and extractions occurred.

We are the only race that thought ourselves into existence. We are the original 'O' bloods. Scientists can't source O-negative blood type anywhere on this planet. We are the only race who have SPIRITUAL DNA.

Black people are an open walking secret...

No straight-haired, ANIMAL-grafted, Neanderthal-Primate-Caucasian can tell MY story. My ancestral DNA will eviscerate his revisionist accounts.
