Voter suppression is the only way that the GOP think they ill win in November.alter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, reviewed 2,068 reported fraud cases since 2000 and found just 10 incidents in which in-person voter impersonation occurred. The project noted that with 146 million registered voters, the results represented about one case of fraud for every 15 million prospective voters. The report was based on a national public-records search in all 50 states. Elections officials in each state were asked for every case of voter fraud, from registration fraud, absentee-ballot fraud, vote buying; false election counts; campaign fraud; the casting of ballots by ineligible voters, such as felons and non-citizens; double voting; and voter impersonation. Voter fraud rarely happens and Republicans know this. |

State Senator Arthenia Joyner (D-Tampa), Chair, Florida Legislative Black Caucus on Monday called on Republican Governor Rick Scott to heed the recent federal court ruling preserving early voting in Florida’s 5 protected counties, and halt the voter suppression efforts still underway in the rest of the state by restoring early voting to its previous time period throughout Florida. “The Court found that implementation of the 2011 election law would disproportionately affect African American voters in these five counties. If that would occur in five counties, then there is a high likelihood of active voter suppression in Florida’s remaining 62 counties,” said Senator Joyner |

The desperation the GOP is showing in trying to suppress the black vote in Florida needs to be told. Spakovsky, the controversial Bush administration official who writes in support of restrictive voting laws, worked with the office of Gov. Rick Scott on the rollout of Florida’s voting list purge, according to documents shared with TPM. Emails show that Scott’s communications staff planned to offer von Spakovsky up to local radio station as an expert on Florida’s effort to purge their voting lists back in June. While the purge targeted non-citizens, the state was using faulty data that included numerous legitimate voters. Scott staffer Brian Burgess, in an email titled “Help In Florida!” told von Spakovsky he’d be “especially grateful if [he’d] be willing to work with my team [to] coordinate with you and the Heritage Foundation media relations folks to help get you booked on talk radio and TV here and nationally if possible.” The emails were obtained by the voting rights group Project Vote through a public information request. Why is the Heritage foundation which is financed by the Koch Brothers involved in voter suppression. http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/08/hans_von_spakovsky_helped_rick_scotts_office_with.php |

Ohio is another state that republicans are trying to suppress the vote. Today it's reported that romney has -0- zero support of black voters. Now we all can see why this republican voter ID law mostly targets blacks. |

Despite what some believe, it is now virtually impossible to hide the deep distain of Republicans for African Americans. But their efforts to "fix" the next election through voter suppression does not end with black voters. Voter ID laws, all implemented in Republican-controlled state legislatures, have been targeting the poor, elderly, Hispanic, and other non-white voting groups. If you do not believe that is evidence of racism and discrimination, you need a dictionary. Some judges have halted voter ID laws, but others, particularly Republican appointees, have upheld these laws which will stop millions of Americans from voting. Voter suppression has become an epidemic ahead of the 2012 elections. In Florida, the Polk Ledger reported that "a former state GOP chairman… claims that the party tried to suppress black voters." In a court deposition in July, former Florida GOP Chair Jim Greer said he was "concerned about what people knew about a secret arrangement he made to get a share of party donations," which included stopping black voters from voting, the Ledger report added. In Ohio, early voting has been the target of Republican election officials. First, early voting hours were extended only in Republican counties. Then under public pressure, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted made early voting hours uniform, but limited them to weekdays only, effectively preventing traditional Sunday voting by African American church-goers. In Florida, Republican Governor Rick Scott signed voter ID restrictions into law, then began to purge voting rolls, targeting Hispanic voters. Cuts in early voting also took aim at voting groups that gave President Obama Florida's 27 electoral votes in 2008. The federal Department of Justice ordered Governor Scott to stop because the efforts were discriminatory. But Scott has continued his push to stop more than 180,000 Americans from voting in Florida. |
