The letter is useless. They are still going to do what's neccessary to get a paycheck.

I didn't want to read the letter because I thought to myself, if it's about how black women are portrayed via media, it should be an open letter to the Entertainment Industry.

Then I thought, well the Industry only does what makes money, so consumers should not support it.

Then I thought, well, I'll read the letter. Maybe I'll be surprised.

I read the first paragraph. She's complaining about black behavior on Reality TV while watching, supporting the very thing behaviors she's criticizing. Fail. Epic Fail.

I don't support reality TV that shows black people in a negative light. I don't watch it. Period. End of story.

No I didn't read the entire letter, because my first thought is the author needs to put her money where her mouth is. Maybe the letter got better as it went on. In my case, she lost me at "watch my regular dose of Reality TV". Oops. Guess I didn't make it entirely through the first paragraph after all.

^o)

Right there with you .....I went thru the same reasoning process and drew the same conclusions.

Not sure if I can take the letter writer seriously. If you think the issue is reality tv and its bad portrayal of black women-why watch this rubbish, watch better programmes. No one makes black women behave like that or watch these shows-stop doing it.
Thank you!

I ran across this open letter to black women, it is written by a black woman and she talks about how black women are presenting themselves on televsiion and in the media. I just want to share this letter with you all.

She makes some inarguable points,

But as far as black women letting men use them as sex objects go, that's a plight with most women because they feel that they're here to serve man. And they jump in bed hoping for true love to come out of it. :-/

Most can't even bear hearing that a man should win them, and they interpret that as degrading men. They find the idea of men coming for them and winning them unacceptable because most men do not mate hunt. If the woman doesn't make the move, then nothing happens. And they interpret that as having no man. But when they follow their instincts and find it leading them to being used as a sex object and lapel on a man's sleeve, a source of fuel to pump his ego with, they complain about those results.

So a woman has to make up in her that she want to stop living as a slave. These women reject the idea of protecting themselves. Every idea of self protection they interpret as an attack on men. And worst of all, they ignore the needs of their children and appreciate men disrespecting them.

So it's not a simple matter of letting men use them. The reason they're doing it is a whole different issue. Even if they're with a man whose good to them, these females don't feel right or at home with him and need to flirt with or even have sex with other men who are the opposite in the character to their man whose in their corner.

And as far as TV goes, people can simply turn it off and find something constructive to do with themselves and their children. Those raunchy shows will stop if there's not enough people to watch them. :)

Didn't read letter but I have to say women of other races do the same or worse, so not only look at how black women are presenting themselves but also how the producers of those shows are presenting black women.

And many women actually want to go wild and flash themselves,

Which is something people are overlooking.

The networks can't be blamed for what women feel like doing.

They can only be blamed for giving people what they want.

People need to mind their own business, and live their own lives.

I never see you speak out against wrong doing, you spend your whole life attacking black women.
Considering that you post negative pictures, videos and comments everyday-heal thyself.
