Republicans should not be surprised if voter laws becomes a major topic of debate this election season—they will be the ones responsible for making it so. Over the past two years, the GOP has made a concerted attempt in a number of states to tighten voter registration procedures, cut back on alternatives such as early voting, and—most controversially—require would-be voters to show state-issued photo IDs as proof of identity. Because there’s such little evidence that these changes are needed to eliminate widespread voter fraud, it’s hard to avoid the conclusion that many Republican legislators want to discourage voting among groups—especially minorities and the poor—that cast their ballots mainly for Democrats. Register to vote Democrats and join voter registration drives. |

Teachers know that black people were killed in their quest for equal voting rights and realize how silly it is if a black person in 2012 can't go down to the DMV once very 4 years to get an ID that most people need in every day life anyway |

In my state you can't buy a gun without proper ID and a background check. Where do you live? Edited by kennyinbmore, Aug 4 2012, 06:08 PM.

I live in WV and you are right about proper ID to buy a gun but alot of sellers don't enforce that and even the ones that do It still hasn't stop killers from buying them. There was no crime to justify the voter ID change and now even a republican chairman has written a 60 page deposition on how his party is pushing this law state by state just to keep blacks form voting. |

Let's cut the bullshit! I am now asking, who on this board has ever been DENIED the right to vote? Like I've mentioned, I've voted from 1960 up to the present, and I've never had any problems voting. So will the person denied the right to vote, please step up to the plate, and give their experiences. |

Lets! First off, it wouldn't make a difference if someone answer that or not. You can't even except the fact why this voters law is push by republicans in the first place. And the election isn't for 3 months anyway. if as you say that the new law isn't keeping anyone from voting then why waste time with making the law? You guys are like addicts in denial. |
