Let’s Get Serious About Voter Suppression

Voter suppression is very real and it involves more than just getting a valid ID. The republiklans are using every tool in their arsenal to try to win this election, including the tried and true painting President obama as "other". Not even a quasi-American. As I have alluded to previously, the best way to combat voter suppression, in my opinion, is not to throw your hands up in complacency and dispair. NOW is the time to launch an aggressive voter registration drive and educate people. We have one going on here in the ATL. It doesn't have to translate into voting for this party or that party, but becoming politically astute and informed on the consequences are who you vote for. Study their platform. If they're incumbents see how they have voted on issues that you feel are important to you. Continue to call the republiklans out on their elimination of early voting. Hold the democrats accountable for your vote. Don't give them a pass. Should be no such thing as blind allegiance. However, today's republiklans have shown themselves to be antithetical to issues that generally concern Black people. Take the fight to them.

Mal, veritas...

Do you do anything in real life, to prevent Voter Suppression? Or, do you all just sit at your computers posting about it, on AFN.com??

I prevented it, in 2008. And it took us to get out on Sunday & Monday before the election, and go into the poorest ghetto/inner-city areas where GOP'ers posted signage saying the election voting was now being held on Wednesday...and we ensured those poor Blacks & minorities were aware that the voting polls were open on Tuesday and we even offered rides to those who didn't know if they could get to their closest voting poll we featured on printed-maps.

Do you all do anything similar?

I'd love to hear about how you all combat the 'EFFECT' of White's racism.

Nobody can supress the vote, either people vote or they don't vote. Every person in America can vote if they are of legal age and don't a felony on their record.

The vote can be suppressed. But right now, I think it's about time to speak truth to some of these do-nothing posters who keep creating thread-after-thread hyping Obama, but like his shytting on Black people.

Many of them want Obama reelected so bad, they don't even see where they are hurting Blacks as a whole as their reasoning/rationale, is beyond disillusioned.

Its Just like psa just alluded to;

How the fucc can you create a thread about Romney's military cowardice, when you knew that Obama showed the same cowardice during his years pre-prime years that he avoided/steered clear of military service?

That's nothing but pure deceit or dishonest politics, and veritas Mal catdaddy & Blaq are pretty good at this shyt. It's becoming a theme, actually. I just noticed it, yesterday. So I think they need my focus on it/they need to be exposed in here.

It's as if they are deliberately looking for shyt to attack Romney about-----but only if Obama did the same weakshyt!--- as they then refuse to address it LOLOL while pretending Obama has some special privilege to do foul shyt, which Romney isn't allowed to.

Those fuccs are helping hang Barry-0 out to dry.

At least WhozThat has gotten ahold of herself over the past few days and realized how foolish she looks when basting in Obama-hypocrisies.

State Sen. Mamie Locke, D-Hampton, said Tuesday she is disappointed in the U.S. Justice Department decision to approve Virginia's new voter identification law which requires voters to provide a valid ID at the polls or vote using a provisional ballot.

"It is disappointing that (Justice Department) has supported voter suppression efforts in Virginia," Locke said in a press release. "This only plants the seed for more egregious measures to be pursued by those who wish to undermine many segments of the voting population."

The Justice Department approved the voter ID law Monday which means voters will have to present an acceptable from of identification at the polls in order to cast a regular ballot in the Nov. 6 general election.

Know your rights and know the local laws in your area. We are the ones being targetted by the Republicans to suppress our vote.
