Good post ! This is how you can tell the Hero's from the Zero's. Not only would I give money but my time also. If I can pay taxes to help the wealthy then a few dollars for my fellow black folks would never be a issue. |

The title of your thread is wrong. That is not doing for self. That is doing for others. At the very least it is doing for others in hope that they do something for you which is still not doing for self. You want to know what doing for self is? Doing. For. Self. Now, if you're trying to push Blacks to give money to a few individuals in hope that those individuals come through in the clutch then you should have titled your thread Give Money To A Few Blacks And Pray They Don't Swindle And Take It To Buy Mansions And Vacation Homes Like Farrakhan Does instead of Do For Self. |

Kenny only cares about himself. You're better asking NGU to stop posting soft porn. |

So, what would I get for my $60? The warm & fuzzies? No shares? No equity? Would there ever be a return on my investment? |

I like the Investment Club idea and you're right, there's no trust. You have to combat that with confidence and investor education. |

It is do for self because as our neighborhoods improves it helps all of us. We have to understand how money works and the way it multiples when it circulates as we spend it. The problem is when we get the money, we seldom spend the money with black business which is why we continue to be the underclass, and we often wonder why other have past us. Did you know that blacks earn roughly 1 trillion dollars which if we spent 1% per week in our own hoods, we could spend close to $200,000 per week. The best way to understand why we continue is to observe why a third world company have the problem that have: Tourism Multiplier Effect Tourism not only creates jobs in the tertiary sector, it also encourages growth in the primary and secondary sectors of industry. This is known as the multiplier effect which in its simplest form is how many times money spent by a tourist circulates through a country's economy. Money spent in a hotel helps to create jobs directly in the hotel, but it also creates jobs indirectly elsewhere in the economy. The hotel, for example, has to buy food from local farmers, who may spend some of this money on fertilizer or clothes. The demand for local products increases as tourists often buy souvenirs, which increases secondary employment. The multiplier effect continues until the money eventually 'leaks' from the economy through imports - the purchase of goods from other countries. A study of tourism 'leakage' in Thailand estimated that 70% of all money spent by tourists ended up leaving Thailand (via foreign-owned tour operators, airlines, hotels, imported drinks and food, etc.). Estimates for other Third World countries range from 80% in the Caribbean to 40% in India. http://geographyfieldwork.com/TouristMultiplier.htm We are just like a third world country in that we let the money leave our neighborhood without it circulating through other black hands to create jobs which is one of the main reasons why our unemployment rate is higher than anyone else in the country. I know some wondered why black wall street was so successful and it was said that money seldom left the black community. We need to reverse those trends by spending at least 10% of our money in our own hoods and as we see improvements, we can spend more. |
