SUA, My unrequited e-love. We are only exchanging ideas. I am only offering my perspective on this. The "purpose" of this site is to find ways to communicate, and offer new ways of looking at things. As I said, I am relieved that these concepts are alien to you. It is testament that education & elightenment was stressed in your family from more than one generation. I would imagine that your generation in your family was not the first to go to college. Your parents are probably college educated. Some black families now have three generations of college educated people. Most may have only two generations. My generation in my family is the first to go to college. |

As I said on that thread, everybody plays the fool in regards to relationships a few times before they get it right. However, the vibe I picked up from that thread are women who chronically get caught up with loser males. Many of those women are educated, and should know better. I have sympathy for any one who catches bad breaks, but want to improve upon themselves. We should never hate on those who want to self-improve. That thread was about whiney women who enjoy some of the perks of being with a loser male until it blows up in heir faces. Those types never want to acknowledge the drama they bring to their own lives. My point of view for this thread is not so much of let's pity these ignorant people, as it is to show where they are coming from when they do what they do. I just want folks here to know how they view the world. The way they see the world is very myopic, and fatatlistic. You can still turn your nose up at them, I just want folks to undersand them. I do believe that soap operas, movies, and prime time dramas do affect how women make relationship choices. If fact, that has been going on for centuries with romantic novels. |

What if these people influenced by media arent trying to improve upon themselves? Just playing devil's advocate. But I get it. Im glad you arent playing pity the ignorant. Because I of course, was going to have issues with what we choose to pity and what we dont. Im just asking questions to make conversation. |

You see I don't believe that. I post on several message boards and I don't see white folks in general ever complaining about how they're portrayed in the media and on shows like that. I only see black folks post about media portrayal |

Those folks deserve whatever bad happens to them. If they use their self-defeating nature as an excuse to do harm on those who strive for self-improvement, then they should face punishment. Those people are simply trash. You have met at least a few people who was doing bad because they thought that was all they was good for, until they woke up, and took control of their lives. Those are the folks we need to keep the light on for. |

A clean cut, well dressed white person will never get confused with a poorly kept & dressed white trash person. They can look at white trash all day, walk outside, and know that the actions of white trash has zero impact on their lives. Many non-blacks seem incapable of telling the difference between an articulate, well-mannered, and well-dressed black person from a walking stereotypical black person they see on TV & music videos. Many take the actions of a small portion of black trash, and apply it to all of us. Edited by Doctor Magnus Warlock, Feb 8 2013, 01:47 PM.

White people have no reason to take offence at or complain about ignorant negative white stereotypes like Honey Boo Boo, Mob wives, Buckwild because these negative images are of working class white people who are considered white trash by most whites. It will not affect how whites see themselves because most images of them in the media are positive. Black people are not in that position, for every positive person on tv like Robin Roberts, Al Roker, Oprah, the President you will get 10 negative and ugly portrayals of black people in the media. The difference is that in the past we would not have put ourselves up to produce or promote ourselves negatively but today we are lining up to make fools of ourselves in videos, reality tv and talk shows. |

When white people see other whites acting rough and common, they do not associate them with being white-they always refer to them as trash or even ghetto. |

Ignorant Hicks. A typical title given to whites who act foolish. |
