In some ways it is harder to stay on the path of doing right but it is not impossible. Role models, good parenting and planning for a stable future seem to be alien for too many young black men and self hatred, a criminal lifestyle and taking the easy way out are more tempting. |

A lot of young cats, some older ones too, simply don't give a damn about nayone or anything. Not even themselves. They don't care if they die or go to jail. You better believe that your life means nothing to them and they will take it in a nanosecond. A cat shot a dude over a spilled drink here in the ATL. Seriously? A damn spilled drink? Another cat shot two dudes because they were cheering for the opposing team. Use to be that you could go to a club or out for entertainment and have a good time. Now, some of these young cats come to the club with a chip on their shoulder trying to prove that they have the most "juice". Sadly, in some cases, these are the type of cats that some women gravitate to. You gravitate to that which is secretly loved most. You meet in life an exact reproduction of your own thoughts. |

Mal, go give a hood nigga a book or a Kindle and he will probably use it to roll up some weed and get his dick sucked by 10 Black chicks in one night. |

If doing the right thing was easy, and brought immediate rewards, then everyone would do it. For many, doing the right thing can look to be an exercise in chasing fool's gold. One has to have a high degree of perseverance. |

Perseverance is a really good term I think most people want immediate rewards and immediate gratification. This has led too many young brothers down the path of doing wrong and not making the effort to study hard, work hard and build a stable future. |

It took years before I finally started to do well for myself. It takes a strong back bone to endure years if setbacks before the right opportunity presents itself. Many guys in general, regardless of color, don't have that. They crumble, and many don't even try. |

There's nothing hard about knowing right from wrong. A 12 yr old kid knows being a lookout for a drug dealer is wrong. |

That's true Sam! However, perserverance and hard work seem to get overshadowed by the instant gratification mentality of "I want it now". Not only do I wnat it NOW, but I'm willing to do some nefarious things to get it now. |
