This news story is not good, a study say that black and Latino students are performing at levels of 30 years ago.

I blame it on the parents. Too many have kids but do not understand how to raise them. I know some kids want to learn by the parents do not have the knowledge or the money to help them, or they beat the kid down until they do not try. For example, I know a woman yells at her 4 year old because she make mistakes. You do not yell but correct mistakes. It is the way you handle those areas by letting them know it is OK to make mistakes because we are all human, but you learn from your mistakes.

my 3rd grade son tests 3 grade levels above in reading and 4 grade levels above in math. I'm good
Kenny it is not about you. This is what is wrong with the black community in that we are only concerned about self. Take me back to the time where we worked together. We never would have had a civil rights movement if it was not for blacks sticking together.
As I said in an earlier post, I can't save the race, neither can you. I taught in an elementary school for 5 years, and I still volunteer regularly even now that I'm working in another field. I've done and am doing my part. As I said earlier though, my biggest contribution I can make to the race is being a responsible parent to the children I make. Making sure I raise intelligent, successful, responsible adults

I've read it and here's my issue with it's veracity. Well just one thing

[/"African Americans and Hispanics have been denied access to the more rigorous courses," Capozzi says. All students, he says, "should be thrown into vigorous classes" and be given proper academic support to ensure their success. If they don't have access to those classes, he says, they won't be adequately prepared for college.

My 23 y/o took both Trig and Calculus in high school. He had algebra and geometry in 9th grade. Here's the kicker though, It took me a few discussions with the principal, one visit to the school board, and a threat to put him in private school and the threat of a possible lawsuit to get that done. Should I have had to do that? Of course not, but I did. I'd go to the mat for my children. Too many parents don't give a shit enough to take steps like that. So it's not enough for that article to say minority children aren't being challenged or given access to higher level classes. The most important part of the education equation is not mentioned in that article. Parental Involvement[/quote]

Ya know? Never mind that I taught in inner city schools for five years and currently take a few days off every month from my regular job to help out at my former school when they need me. I just don't take them seriously luv.

I asked one of them what they have done for the community and they told me not to worry about it. Yet they whine about what Obama is doing for blacks non-stop.
