Isn't it Republicans in 2012 who want to bring back Jim Crow laws, segregation, and take away civil rights gains? |

You may want to check your history. America was first involved in Vietnam in 1950, at the time of the Korean war. And america's involvement ended because they got their asses kicked by Vietcong. |

Actually, the Viet Cong, wouldn't have stood a chance without assistance form the then "Soviets" and China. The same with North korea. It's s known fact that many of the troops killed in that war were Chinese . Even today, China is the North Koreans most staunch ally. Then on top of that, the American stategy for the Viet Nam war was piss poor and politically driven. When the generals felt that relentless bombing of the North Viet Nam and the Viet Cong would be a decided advantage to America and change the dynamics, the white house was adamantly opposed to it. Many of the generals during that time lament that the war was lost because of political expediency. We learned nothing form the French experience in Viet Nam. Just as we have squandered many of the lessons from the Soviets (Russians) experiences in Afghanistan. |
