All the coon, Uncle Tom Republicans are always going on about how the fifties and sixties were so much better. They long for the days when black people knew their place and Richard Nixon introduced the Southern strategy |

You missed my point. Yes I know some older guys in the ATL that would do the same thing like we did in a small town. I know he use to stay on guys about how they dress and he hated the sagging look. In fact, he would ask those that were sagging were they gay and he would explain where the sagging comes from. Now let us compare how they behave in white neighborhood even in the Atlanta, in some well to do area, the white men walk the block and it is not just for exercise. |

No excuses for suggesting Jim Crow was better. I'd take a few sagging Black teenagers over Jim Crow any damn day of the week. |

Theres a new book out about the current condition of the black community which asks an important question. Do you ever wonder if many of us have been brainwashed into believing that impoverished Blacks, men in particular, are solely to blame for much of the problems we face as a community? The book is called The New Jim Crow and looks at the high incarceration rates of black men, the criminal justice system, the war on drugs and why we face harsher sentences, the book questions whether black men are being blamed unfairly or are they being targetted. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/michelle-alexander/the-new-jim-crow_b_454469.html |

There has been an attitude of looking out for No 1 rather than looking out for their family and larger community. The criminal justice system has replaced college for too many black men and with 1 in 3 black men having contact with the court system we have to break the cycle. |

Somehow, we must promote the fact that incarceration is a shameful thing. It is nothing to be proud of. We must promote that being responsible & being selfless when it comes to family & friends are building blocks to attaining true manhood. We must stress that being a positive, productive, person is not a preposterous practice, but it does require a degree of patience & perserverance. What's up with me and all words that starts with "P"? |

That's an excuse. White doctors, attorneys, bankers, high paid actors, and etc use drugs while in their high priced neighborhoods with the lowest crime rates. If you don't know about drugs, then STFU and don't talk about it. The fact that people aren't allowed to defend themselves have ruined the community. The stand your ground law is a perfect solution for high crime areas, because it takes away the fear of being arrested for defending yourself. |
