Why do some Black men not take any responsibility for the condition of the Black community?; From school drop outs, unemployment, gangs, abandoning families, prison populations and crime.

There seems to be no institution be it parental, government or social that will ever get a grip on these issues.
You can't fix stupid. Those young black men have to want to do better. It's not up to society at large to motivate you

This may be true Rick that we are indeed seeing more and more young black men who are idle and not in school, college or in work but the basis for that is often twofold. I
I seriously doubt there are "more and more" young Black men idle and not in school. The numbers have probably actually stayed the same. It's just decades ago no one gave a shit enough to post statistics. Now, even yo momma has a camera on her iPhone.
Sadly there is not one area in the lives of young black men where things are not getting worse. We have never had high school drop out rates that now number 50 percent in some states, there are close to 1 million black men in prison that is a record high, we are currently experiencing one of the highest rates of unemployment, we are 9 times more likely to be killed by a gun than a white man.
There seems to be no institution be it parental, government or social that will ever get a grip on these issues.
So basically you're saying parents can't save young Black men from doom and gloom? Which basically means you're no different than Marcus or UTB. Stab the fuck on outta here, then.

I am not saying that parents cannot change things but I am saying that the situation has reached crisis point and there is no section of the Black community that has put forward a constructive, workable solution for the lives of so many black men that are being lost to drugs, crime and prison. There may be some parents, organisations and voluntary groups that work with young men but the statistics are not getting better or turning around.

Mal - what is your solution? Seriously - what do you propose to change this fact?

If what is not being in place works, than....what will work?

Perhaps the problem is you are way too concerned about looking at statistics instead of actually going around the country and seeing things for yourself. Stats are not only easily manipulated but they are purposely manipulated. For example, say Fox News does a phone poll. First, they numbers they have are probably going to be a majority Republican. Second, even if they did call at random how many Democrats are going to stay on the phone as soon as someone calling states they are Republicans from Fox News?

Let's take your dismal talk on Black males for example. If a poll was complete in the city and surrounding cities I live in I guarantee you the amount of Black male drop outs and incarceration rates would be far, far below that of a place like, for instance, south central LA.

So, here's the deal. You don't need to find a blanket to try and "fix" young Black men. You need to pinpoint specifically where the problem areas are and THEN make a blanket that works for that area. If you're in my neck of the woods complaining that 70 of young Black men there are in jail or drop outs we're going to look at you like you lost your damn mind.
