For those of you who work, during your lunch hour, ride around for a little while and count the number of 17-50 yr old able body black males walking around chilling doing nothing. why is that? It ain't the white man fault. I guarantee 70 of them are dropouts, criminals and drug addicts. If you refuse to do the minimal like getting a hs diploma, you are not going to be successful, point blank. All of you keep talking about helping each other but some are not worth the time and effort. Bring the bumbs to your house if you want to and they will rob your ass when you go to work.
This may be true Rick that we are indeed seeing more and more young black men who are idle and not in school, college or in work but the basis for that is often twofold. In some states more than half of all black boys are dropping out of school before they graduate. Education used to be seen as a way to build a successful life and this is not the case anymore. Secondly boys need male role models to emulate, they need to see other men supporting families, going to work, being in college, making a stable life. Often too many boys are not seeing the right example then find themselves going down the wrong path.

Mal, You don't need a role model to finish high school. Let's stop making excuses. Education may not be the key to success for some but for those who don't have it and don't have an alternate plan, where do you think they are going to end up. I didn't have a father but i had enough sense to know that i didn't want to live in prison either.

If you want to help a black male, tell his ass the honest truth and quit procrastinating with them.

Mal let's be real. Are you saying young black men are just dumb? That they don't have the common sense to think "I need an education or I won't amount to shit"

That's just like all these blacks having babies. Do they need a role model about sex protection? You bust a nut inside and you have a baby, simple. Everyone who is having sex knows this but they choose to not practice it.

Mal let's be real. Like I said I ran a program with kids and it kept a lot of them off the streets, you could say I was their role model. But some if those kids still went right back to the streets. All we did was show these kids the value if education and we didn't sugar coat shit, we explained where these kids would be and what they need to avoid. In the end some still ran the streets.

Those that ran the streets are still there. I peep one of theirs facebooks. He calls himself "Shawty b". His status are about rolling blunts and drinking. Jobs look at Facebook now......

That kid is a lost cause.....I wouldn't help him for shit

I seriously doubt there are "more and more" young Black men idle and not in school. The numbers have probably actually stayed the same. It's just decades ago no one gave a shit enough to post statistics. Now, even yo momma has a camera on her iPhone.

Sadly there is not one area in the lives of young black men where things are not getting worse. We have never had high school drop out rates that now number 50 percent in some states, there are close to 1 million black men in prison that is a record high, we are currently experiencing one of the highest rates of unemployment, we are 9 times more likely to be killed by a gun than a white man.
There seems to be no institution be it parental, government or social that will ever get a grip on these issues.

Not going to school is a choice. Picking up a gun and banging is a choice. Breaking the law and going to prison is a choice. Killing your brother or neighbor over drugs is a choice. Don't expect the government to do a damn thing to help idiots.
