Why do some Black men not take any responsibility for the condition of the Black community?; From school drop outs, unemployment, gangs, abandoning families, prison populations and crime.

The breakdown of the family is destroying the black community. We have allowed too many of our youth to run the streets unsupervised, with no discipline, no direction and no hope. Too many "fathers" have decided that the responsibility of raising their kids gets in the way of other selfish endeavors, so they become absent, leaving mothers to raise children alone. Too many black youth, especially young males, are raised on the streets with no hope of a future other than crime and jail. They're not taught personal responsibility for their behavior, and as a result they end up in the criminal justice system for life. There is so much that is currently going wrong in the lives of young black males from high school drop out rates in some cities over 50%, joining gangs, black on black murder rates, 1 in 3 Black males will have contact with the criminal justice system and high unemployment rates.
On this board too many weak men will insult Black women on a daily basis about clothes, clubs and dating and tying to blame them for all the ills in the Black community. Yet they will never look in the mirror at themselves or as men take responsibility for the situation we are in. Is the basis for all the communities problems Black men who take no responsibility for their lives.

Real men have to fight the women and law now days as oppose to the time, when a black man could correct any black child even if he was not the father.

Just like dear old dad. :) Although in that case I guess it would be a matter of opinion :D I'm kidding. I raised two strong, intelligent, kind black men. Now this 8 yr old may turn out to be a different story I'm afraid :-/

They feel they can turn their back on the people they perceive have not pulled themselves up by their bootstraps, without consequence. They feel it's NOT their responsibility. I agree.

But I think there should be...a sense of obligation to help the less fortunate some kind of way.

This question can have many, many answers.

I wasnt trying to down Kenny at all.

I am just saying college alone doesnt make you a good man.

We have racists, players and abusers who all went to college and that sure as shit doesnt make them good men.

(Please note Kenny this doesnt mean I am saying this to you or your children at all, I am sure your sons are fine young men.)
