Some songs, I believe, should not be touched. Take this classic from the Isley Brothers. The Tantalizing Tayter should appreciate this one. Damn, who could match that? Well, I introduce to you Whitney Houston. I find this remake with the strong smooth jazz flavor quite sexy. I actually could be a Whitney Houston groupie if she were to sing this to me. Here is Hill St. Soul's take on the classic. I like it, but it is too much like the original. She could have put more of a personal touch on it, in my Godly opinion. Lastly, let's throw in Candy Dulfer. Her cover is entirely smooth jazz. Good music all the way around. It is amazing how many folks have covered this song over the decades. |

Some folks should catch a back hand when covering a classic. Let's hear the downside of covering songs. Here is an original. If there was a bridge, I would push her ass over it. I can't even stomach past the first verse. Teddy has this totally unique voice, and every song he sings has his own signature on it. Bette....take this digital poppycock backhand...and like it. |

Sometimes....brothas can totally butcher a song too. Case in point, let's groove to this original. I don't know what K-Ci was smoking when he thought he could do this song justice. I have to admit something in this case. Years ago, when Kid-Guru was born, and brought home, I held her in my arms, and sang this song EXACTLY like K-Ci did. Mother Wilson & Sister-in-Law Wilson were horrified. Edited by Doctor Magnus Warlock, Feb 11 2013, 09:31 PM.

Some originals are straight up originals. They could only be performed by the original artist. Rick James...need I say more, huh bitch? But what happens when another unique artist puts his own spin on a classic? I love both takes. The original & remake both get the sacred seal of approval from the good Doctor Eros. |

I posted this in another thread. I say any person, particularly a black man, should pay attention to the lyrics when entering or fully engulfed in a politically charged work environment. People...learn the game. If you are gonna be in it ...be in it to win it. Edited by Doctor Magnus Warlock, Feb 15 2013, 12:08 AM.

The movie Boat Trip is a delightfully guilty pleasure. They gay comedy, the sexy Rosalind Sanchez , the funny Horatio Sanz, the metro sexual acting of Cuba Gooding Jr, the always beautiful Viveca Fox, Roger Moore's gay role. Just funny and sexy at the same time. |
