The Hood – Straight Outta Rob Liefeld Posted August 27, 2015 by by Rich Johnston
With Straight Outta Compton hitting the screens, on Facebook, Rob Liefeld reminisced about NWA member and the Godfather of gangsta rap,
to that time Eazy-E came to my comic store signing. I was shocked and thrilled when Eazy showed up at the Golden Apple for the launch of Youngblood #1. I acted like a fool because I was intimidated by his presence. I remember thinking “Eazy E reads my comics?? What?? AWESOME! He was persistent and insisted we do a comic together so we decided to develop a comic “The Hood” and we worked on it until he became ill. Really sweet guy, incredible talent. Give way too soon! I’m seeing #StraightOuttaCompton this weekend as the#NWA story is a compelling on for all artists! I know I have the sketches for The Hood in my files, I’ll dig em up and share them soon. #robliefeld#imagecomics
He dug them up.
Here are some of the sketches for The Hood, a project about urban men with powers developed/created with Eazy-E in 1992-93. The designs are dated but reflect the time of that era. #Youngblood had a huge urban audience with characters as Sentinel and Chapel. Would have been a blast to complete but Eazy-E had fell out of contact due to complications with his illness.#NWA #eazyE #robliefeld #imagecomics
Note, one of them is actually called Compton.
When asked “maybe you should bring them back as now would be the most appropriate time”, Rob replied
Team Iron Man is looking way over-powered compared to team Captain America.

Civil War: Whose Side Are They On Revealed? Posted August 27, 2015 by by Erik Amaya
From the moment Captain America: Civil War was announced, I assumed it would use the “Whose Side Are You On?” concept the 2009 Marvel Comics event utilized. It’s really brilliant in its way and I can totally see people putting “I’m with Cap” bumper stickers on their cars.
Incidentally, I’m with Cap.
YouTube and Comic Book Movie user MrSundayMovies discovered some artwork that appears to reveal both Captain America and Iron Man’s coalitions of heroes. If you’ve read Civil War, a lot of these names won’t be terribly surprising, but clearly some spoilers are ahead.
Cap’s team includes the most likely suspects, Falcon and the Winter Solider, along with Hawkeye and a surprise appearance from Sharon Carter. Ant-Man can also be seen on Hawkeye’s shoulder.
Which leaves a few people like Scarlet Witch and Spider-Man up for grabs, but it remains to be seen if this artwork is the real deal or someone’s well-rendered educated guesses. None of these people are surprising for either team — War Machine backing Cap would be a true shocker — so it is possible an artist just extrapolated the current rumor atmosphere and visualized it. Then again it could be early mock-ups for marketing purposes, possibly even for the “I’m with Cap” merchandise.
And hopefully, you’ll all be with Cap, too when Captain American: Civil War opens May 6th, 2016.
UPDATE: Jeremy Renner’s official Facebook page now claims the art is genuine with the actor commenting “Got new threads. And I brought a friend” in regard to his image in the Team Cap artwork.
Tony’s squad of wrong-headed losers includes War Machine, Black Widow, Black Panther and Vision. I’m going to assume Maria Hill backs Tony as well.
I am a bit mystified with BP on team Iron Man. It has been rumored that BP could be after Winter Soldier.
Also, BP is usually two-three steps ahead of both friends & foes. Just because you see him doing one thing, it could actually be a ruse to cover his true agenda.
That is part of what makes him such a fun character.
Folks are also wondering about why Black Widow is with Iron Man instead of Cap. She is on buddy terms with Cap & Hawkeye.
Ant-man may provide a GIANT edge for team Cap.
This film can't drop quick enough.
The unseen wild cards are the Scarlet Witch, and the rebooted Spider-Man.

REPORT: "CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR" CONCEPT ART REVEALS WARRING FACTIONS
A new video posted by Comic Book Movie claims to reveal the lineups that will go head-to-head in "Captain America: Civil War." The film will pit Marvel's heroes against each other, and the concept art shows off the two distinct teams: Captain America's and Iron Man's. While the art has not been confirmed as official by Marvel, here's a spoiler alert for those that don't want to know where the heroes will align.
The concept art shows both the lineups of the two teams as well as an image of them charging into battle against each other.
Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Sharon Carter, Falcon and Winter Soldier make up Captain America's side. War Machine, Black Widow, Black Panther and Vision are standing with Iron Man.
These pieces of concept art do not totally contradict a rumor that circulated earlier this month regarding the film's alliances, although the art does have a few notable differences. Scarlet Witch, who was rumored to be on Captain America's side, is not included in either piece of art. Sharon Carter has been added to Cap's side after not being part of the earlier rumor. You can also see what appears to be a birdlike drone flying overhead; previous rumors have stated that Falcon's bird partner Redwing would be worked into the film in that manner.
Iron Man's side is missing Spider-Man, who was part of the earlier rumor, and instead counts Black Panther as a member -- despite Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige's insistence that Chadwick Boseman's character represents a "third party."
"Captain America: Civil War" opens on May 6, 2016.
Here are more details for the Luke Cage Netflix series.

Major plot details revealed for Marvel’s mysterious ‘Luke Cage’ Netflix series
Jacob Siegal August 27, 2015
Following the success of Daredevil earlier this year, Marvel fans are desperate for more information on the rest of the Netflix series set to launch in the coming months. We know that Jessica Jones will hit the streaming service before the end of the year, but on Wednesday, we got a sneak peek at the third Marvel series coming to Netflix, courtesy of Heroic Hollywood.
According to Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez, production for Luke Cage will begin next week, and Willis Stryker a.k.a. Diamondback will be the main villain of the show. Interestingly, Diamondback was also set to go up against Luke Cage in an unproduced script for a movie starring the thick-skinned hero in 2004.
Reva Conners, a friend of both Cage and Stryker, will reportedly be the primary love interest. She is what causes a rift between Cage and Stryker in the first place, resulting in Cage being framed for a crime he didn’t commit.
As for the story of the first season, here’s the synopsis Heroic Hollywood was able to dig up:
“Luke Cage is a former gang member who is framed for a crime. In prison, he volunteers for a medical experiment that goes awry, giving him super strength and bulletproof skin. Using his newfound powers, Cage escapes and becomes a hero for hire. His archenemy is Willy Stryker, a former childhood friend from Harlem. The two committed petty crimes together, and both fell for the same woman, Reva Connors, which led to their eventual falling out. It was Stryker who framed Cage for a drug deal that sent him to prison.”
Production begins in September and is set to finish before the end of the year. All 13 episodes of the first season of Luke Cage will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
NETFLIX'S "LUKE CAGE" ADDS ROSARIO DAWSON, THEO ROSSI Wed, September 2nd, 2015 at 10:28am PDT
Deadline has learned that "Sons of Anarchy's" Theo Rossi has joined the cast of Netflix's upcoming Marvel series "Luke Cage." Additionally, Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple on the series, a character she debuted on "Daredevil" earlier this year. The news comes from an unnamed source; Marvel has yet to confirm either actors' involvement.
Rossi played Juice Ortiz on FX's "Sons of Anarchy" from 2008 to 2014. Deadline's report states that Rossi's character is "smooth and manipulative, street smart and controlling." Deadline's inside source believes that Rossi will be playing a villain on the show, Shades. In the comics, Shades and his partner Comanche were Cage's fellow inmates; upon getting out of jail, Shades donned a special visor that emitted powerful blasts.
Dawson will travel to "Luke Cage" after appearing in both "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones," the two Netflix series preceding "Luke Cage." This is part of Dawson's overall Marvel contract, which has positioned Claire Temple as potentially the connective tissue for Netflix's four Marvel shows (it has yet to be announced if Dawson will appear on the fourth series, "Iron Fist"). Temple's involvement on "Cage" seems a natural fit considering that the character originally appeared in the comics as Luke Cage's love interest.
"Luke Cage's" cast continues to grow; Alfre Woodard joined the show in August in an unspecified, possibly villainous role. Cheo Hodari Coker ("Southland," "Ray Donovan") will serve as showrunner for the series.
Series lead Mike Colter will make his debut as Luke Cage on "Jessica Jones" later this year. "Luke Cage" is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2016.
I was hoping to see Monica Rambeau make her live action debut, but it looks like another heroic sista will beat her to the punch.
I proudly present Misty Knight!!!!!

MARVEL'S "LUKE CAGE" CASTS ITS MISTY KNIGHT
Sweet Christmas! Another piece has fallen into place for Marvel's third Netflix series, "Luke Cage".
Following today's announcement that Theo Rossi and Rosario Dawson will join star Mike Colter and Alfre Woodard in the series, Deadline reports that Simone Missick has joined the cast as Missy, "a woman with a strong sense of justice." The report also suggests that Missy is actually Misty Knight, who in the Marvel Comics source material frequently joins forces with Luke Cage and Iron Fist and served as a member of the Defenders in at least one incarnation of the team.
Created by Tony Isabella and Arvell Jones, Knight lost her arm in the line of duty as a NYPD police officer, preventing a bomb attack in the process. After resigning from the force rather than take a desk job, she received a bionic arc from Tony Stark and went on to start a detective agency alongside her friend Colleen Wing. The two frequently teamed up with Luke Cage and Iron Fist's Heroes for Hire, and Knight and Iron Fist even became romantically involved.
Given that Marvel's fourth Netflix series will be "Iron Fist" and lead into "The Defenders," Knight makes a logical addition to the street-level side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Missick, a relative newcomer, is married to Dorian Missick, who played a lead role on "Southland," which "Luke Cage" showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker previously worked on.
Mike Colter will make his debut as Luke Cage on "Jessica Jones" later this year while Cage's self-titled series is expected to arrive on Netflix in 2016.
Marvel looks to be serious with this Luke Cage series.

MARVEL'S "LUKE CAGE" ADDS "HOUSE OF CARDS'" MAHERSHALA ALI IN VILLAIN ROLE
Posted: 2 hours ago
Marvel.com has announced that "House of Cards" actor Mahershala Ali has joined the rapidly expanding cast of Netflix's "Luke Cage" series. Ali will portray Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes, described in the announcement as "a Harlem nightclub owner" who will "become an unexpected foe in Luke’s life when Stokes’ criminal activities threaten Luke’s world."
The character is based on Cornell Cottonmouth (the Stokes surname seems to be an addition for the series), a crime boss that debuted in 1974's "Power Man" #19. Cottonmouth made a few appearances in Cage's '70s ongoing series, most notably as a heroin-dealing crime boss whose attempt to recruit Cage into his organization ended with a brawl. The character was more recently seen in the "Shadowland: Power Man" limited series from 2010.
Ali is no stranger to Netflix original series, as he has portrayed the intimidating-yet-conflicted lobbyist Remy Danton on all three seasons of the acclaimed series "House of Cards." Ali also has a pedigree when it comes to genre entertainment; he portrays Boggs in the "Hunger Games" film franchise, had a lead role on "The 4400" TV series and a recurring role on the Syfy series "Alphas."
"Luke Cage" has seen it's cast grow considerably over the past few weeks. In addition to Mike Colter, who will portray lead character Luke Cage, the series will also star Alfre Woodard as a powerful politician, Theo Rossi as the criminal Shades and Simone Missick as Misty Knight. Additionally, Rosario Dawson will reprise her role as Claire Temple on the series, a character she previously played on "Daredevil" and will play on fellow Netflix series "Jessica Jones" later this year. Colter will also debut as Luke Cage on "Jessica Jones."
