With the news that the UK is turning red Telephone Boxes Green to power up hand held devices, and literally repainting them green, some people are questioning if the Tardis in Dr. Who should also be painted, green?

But the Tardis is a Public Police Call Box. Not a Telephone Box.

So how ironic to find this!

UK's iconic red phone boxes go green to charge people's gadgets

http://www.engadget.com/2014/10/06/uk-red-phone-box-solar-phone-charge/

The traditional red phone box, once a familiar sight on Britain's streets, used to provide a quick and simple way to communicate while traveling. However, as smartphones have become essential parts of our everyday lives, thousands of iconic booths have fallen out of use and been consigned to waste dumps. In a bid to preserve their presence, enterprising companies have turned them into free WiFi hotspots, but others believe they can also serve as the perfect place for mobile users to grab some extra charge while on the move. Solarbox took the wraps off the first of six such kiosks in Tottenham Court Road, London last week, offering commuters and tourists the opportunity to top-up their device for free.
The boxes have gone green in more ways than one: They've been given a fresh coat of paint and have an 86cm solar panel mounted to the roof. There's also a reinforced screen fixed inside the booth that displays ads as people wait for their phone to charge. The Solarbox is open between 5:30am and 11:30pm, 365 days a year and can charge up to 100 phones per day. It's also capable of delivering a 20 percent battery boost in 10 minutes -- perfect if you need a bit of extra juice to file your TPS report while on the train home.

This just might be.....my new favorite song & video.

I definitely must serenade Felicia with this song, in addition to teaching her the dance moves.......while in the shower.

As I enjoy long showers, I'll be singing this to Felicia, as well.

Felicia....you know what I hunger for.

Damn, Marvel is relaunching another Avengers' book featuring a really interesting line-up. This Avengers' team, aka the Unity Team, is comprised of Avengers & members of the X-Men in order to promote healthy human/mutant relations.

The chaps in bold are three favorites.

I need to post more about Brother Voodoo, aka Doctor Jericho Drumm. He is a mystic from Haiti, and also an ex of Monica Rambeau (Spectrum). He was unceremoniously killed off a few years back. Black characters rarely come back from the grave in fiction, so I am most pleased (as are a lot of other fans). Before his death, he was known as Doctor Voodoo.

Sam Wilson has his solo Cap book, Mighty Avengers team, and now the Uncanny Avengers team. Sam will be appearing in multiple books every month for the time being, and I love it.

We got two brothas prominently featured in perhaps the premiere book at Marvel.

Remender & Acuna Relaunch "Uncanny Avengers" Out of "AXIS"

Posted: 1 hour ago

ComicBook.com reports that Marvel plans to launch a new "Uncanny Avengers" series with Rick Remender and artist Daniel Acuna in January, spinning out of the events of "AXIS." The new line-up of characters brings over Scarlet Witch and Rogue from the current "Uncanny Avengers," and adds Quicksilver, Vision, Brother Voodoo, Sam Wilson and Sabretooth to the roster.

"AXIS" scribe Remender mentioned in August that there were plans for a new series spinning out of the event, and it certainly looks like "Uncanny Avengers" could be that book -- though it's more of a relaunch than it is something brand new.

"'AXIS' will lead to a whole new book that I'm writing that will have a number of characters who are very changed from the story," Remender said in August of the mystery title. "I don't want to give anything away, but the Inversion isn't going to be completely wrapped up. There's not going to be a perfect bow on this story by the end of things. It'll be a nice conclusion to the immediate threat, but there will be some very interesting aspects of the Inversion moving forward into new stories in the Marvel Universe in a handful of titles."

Check out the solicitation info and covers below.

'Spider-Woman #1' has a special variant cover that is causing some controversy for some reason

Good news: Marvel has a new comic book starring a female character! Better news: That female character is Spider-Woman, a.k.a. Jessica Drew, a severely underrated B-lister who hasn’t had a solo non-limited series since the late ’70s. Best news: Spider-Woman will team up Jessica with Silk, another female superhero, therefore all-but-assuring that Spider-Woman will be passing the Bechdel Test all over the place.

Woohoo, Marvel! Woohoo, strong female character! Woohoo, illustrations of those strong female characters posing with strength and femininity! Why, just look at this variant cover of Spider-Woman #1 by Milo Manara:

Yep, there’s ol’ Spider-Woman, just hangin’ out on the side of a building, as one does.

Thrusting her posterior high in the air, as one does.

And her legs spread all akimbo, as legs so often are.

And also her costume appears to be painted or possibly even just tattooed on.

And I guess she’s in a crawling position, even though she’s clearly perched on a ledge, so she doesn’t really need to do the whole “wall-crawling” thing.

And I guess that, like, theoretically, if you were in one of those buildings behind her, and you happened to cast a glance across the street, you might let out a gasp and exclaim, “Great Scott! For a second there, I thought I saw an adolescent fantasy of subservient womanhood crawling across that building over there! I sure am glad that was just a trick of the light, because it would be really crazy if I had seen a nude red giant super-butt in a nominally family-friendly situation! Why, if I had seen something like that, I might start thinking to myself that this is exactly the kind of thing that happens in a male-dominated industry–the sort of thing that probably wouldn’t happen if there were, like, a couple women in the room to point out when something looks desperately wrong. Glad I didn’t see anything like that!”

Anyhow, some people are upset about this for some reason. For comparison’s sake, here’s the regular cover:
