From Baron Strucker, Hitler (Hitler is a character in most comics regardless of the company), Red Skull, and Doctor Doom, Marvel has a lot of scummy racists villains.

A picture from the TV set featuring 12th Doctor.

He is still wearing the 11th Doctor's wardrobe.

How things repeat themselves. Here is the 3rd Doctor (one of my favorite incarnations of the character).

Here is a new image of the 12th Doctor.

It seems the 12th incarnation of the Doctor has the fashion sensibilities of the third incarnation of the Time Lord, also known as "Dandy" Doctor. Although I would jokingly call the 3rd Doctor the Pimp Doctor due to his meticulous taste in wardrobe (and two of his companions often wearing very short skirts).

This works for me.

Back in the day, Felicia wondered how I would look dressed as the 3rd Doctor.

From the set....that police box looks familiar.

Old school Luke Cage.

In a classic story, Luke took a job protecting a European political figure from robots.

Luke handled his business.

However, the political figure turned out to be...Doctor Doom.

And you know what's worse...that mofo left without paying Luke his money.

So Luke borrowed a jet from the Fantastic Four to Doom's homeland.

After a furious battle, Luke ended up saving Doom from more assassins.

Doom ended up paying the man, as Doom was busy with a coup.

Luke took his money, and went home.

Monica Rambeau is the heroine known as Spectrum. She is the leader of the Mighty Avengers. She debuted in the 1980's as Captain Marvel. She has gone through a few name changes. At one point in the 1980's, she was the leader of the main team. It was cool back then because you had Monica leading the Avengers while Storm was leading the X-Men.

One thing abut Monica was her hairstyles over the years.

When the Mighty Avengers' series was announced, fans were taken aback by her new hairstyle.

You will find threads dedicated to Monica's hair spanning 20+ pages. Some of the back & forth got a bit out of hand in some of those threads.

The writer actually made it an amusing part of the story.

In another scene, we have Luke Cage & and Adam Brashear, the Blue Marvel.

A little information dump before we get to that.

Adam's story is a complex one. He was a military man, and fought in the Korean War. After gaining his powers, he operated as a fully costumed hero back in the 1950's and 1960's.

Posted Image

He was seen as the greatest hero since Captain America (who was literally on ice since the end of WWII).

Until, after a fateful battle, his costume showed a whole lotta skin....black skin, that is.

This was during the segregation era, and the very beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. Where once the Blue Marvel was seen & loved by all, now he was feared. Others saw him now as the one to make equality real in America, or one whose presence could turn America into a bloody race war.

At the request of President JFK, Doctor Brashear retired as the Blue Marvel. Many believed he died preventing an alien invasion. He used that as an opportunity to settle down, and enjoy life. He became a husband, father, and college professor with a PhD.

In the Marvel Universe, it was the champions of the Civil Rights Movement, and not a superhero who fought for equality.

Blue Marvel only retired from the public eye. He spent decades helping those while staying out of sight. His powers (consider him a Superman analogue) grants him slow aging. He recently came back to the public eye, and is now a member of the Mighty Avengers.

The character is quite controversial. Some see him as patriot who let humans solve their own problems with him intervening to stop more than human threats (a common theme with Superman).

Others see him as...well...an Uncle Tom that did not do enough for his people with his power.

Things are never that simple. Sounds like a Marvel character to me which makes him such a complex character.

Here is Luke Cage confronting Adam.
