NEW "DAYS OF FUTURE PAST" IMAGES FEATURE QUICKSILVER, BEAST

TV/FilmSteve Sunu, Staff Writer/Reviews Editor15

Four new stills for "X-Men: Days of Future Past" have hit online -- one of which is a first look at Evan Peters as Quicksilver. Posted by Comic Book Movie, the image features Peters, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and James McAvoy as an ambulatory Charles Xavier. Additional images include hi-res photos of Omar Sy as Bishop and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.

Entertainment Weekly has also posted a photo from the film that shows an encounter between Nicholas Hoult as Beast and Jackman as Wolverine, seemingly set in the Xavier family estate.

I must admit, famed French actor Omar Sy really has the look of Bishop down.

I certainly hope Bishop gets his due in the film. I really hope this elevates his status in the comics as writers have mishandled his character in recent years.

Bishop is a mutant who hails from the not so distant future. He was born and raised in a concentration camp where the "M" for mutant was branded on his face. He has the ability to absorb & rechannel energy. He can also use the energy to increase his strength, stamina, and resistance to injury.

Eventually, mutants were freed, and lived in, well, ghettos.

His parents died when he was fairly young, but was looked after by his grandmother. This grandmother looks an awful lot like Storm. Some fans have speculated whether storm is related to Bishop or if this was a surrogate relationship.

As a teen & young adult, Bishop became a cop of sorts, policing the mutant community to prevent further mistreatment from baseline humans. He was inspired by his grandmother's tales of the heroic X-Men.

Through a chain of events, Bishop found himself in the past, and a member of the very X-Men he spent his life idolizing.

Due to his training, Bishop is a complete bad-ass. He has played a pivotal role in plenty good stories.

Sadly, other writers did not know what to do with him. A few years back, he was recently portrayed as a traitor & mass murderer. This was unfortunate as the X-Men have so few black male heroes anyway.

Thanks to Storm, he has recently rejoined a splinter team of X-Men, but his villainous past could come back to haunt him.

Next to Cyclops, Bishop was my favorite X-Men, but I am not a fan of the recent direction the writers have taken the series. If this film boost up Bishop, and he goes back to one of the main X-books, I would give that book a shot.

Here are more images of Bishop.

I am thinking you must be bored.

I did not want to mention this before, but now I see a pattern.

Like UTB, you also enjoy keeping & posting the pictures of strange men.
