That is the thing, marriage is a life-long partnership.
A couple will face some tough times. But both parties have to be committed to each other to brave the storms & strife in order to make it work.
And if children are involved, the couple must work hard to set aside much of their individual desires, whims, and selfish tendecies and create a loving stable environment.
When I was raising my niece, I did not mind being cold, hungry, & broke...so long as she was not. You had to raise a niece. Long story, I bet.

Do people even know the meaning of marriage do they know how serious it is when they take their marriage vows?
Sure. It means voluntary chattel slavery. And the vows mean to be a sucker. Did your momma tell you that? Certainly not from your Dad.

Maybe in a perfect World, but our World isn't that perfect. Marriage should be a life long commitment, but ever since there was such a thing as divorce, the commitment doesn't have to be there anymore. People can get married for a week and then call it quits! The reasons behind it aren't even a big deal anymore! Marriage doesn't mean what it once did... like in the 18th Century! My Marriage was for shit! As I look back, I tell myself I should have never gotten married. I know why I did... I felt sympathy for this Woman raising two children on her own and I started to think with my heart (not even with my brain or my dick)! In the end it was shit! I hear you. The proper foundation is important.

Haze...you married out of sympathy, not love.
Alot of people I know who got divorce have told me that they had seconds thoughts even on the wedding day, and still went through the ceremony. And eventually, they filed for divorce.
Two people, whether they are married or not ,must be on the same page, and strive to achieve the same goals.
Marriage is a partnership, and alot of me-stuff must be set aside for the union to be successful.
It is not too different than a music band. Most bands split up because individual self-interest gets in the way of the groups' main objectives.
That is why I would only marry if children are involved. Because my objective would shift from my own individual hedonism to experiencing joy in providing for my family.
Being selfless, and finding joy in it is a key to marriage.
I say this as a man who has raised children. A band... Good analogy.

I figured that out for myself. They say if you can see it, you can be it. If you can't, you shan't. So if that's what you see, avoid it like the plague.

This proves that being rich with a lot of money can't even keep a marriage together.

I figured that out for myself. They say if you can see it, you can be it. If you can't, you shan't. You want to be somebody's property and follow commands like a child.
And I don't.
