This is what Obama has spoken on in his first budget FEB 2011. Read how the CBC (congressional black caucus) felt about it

http://colorlines.com/archives/2011/02/congressional_black_caucus_cannot_accept_obama_budget_cuts.html
CBC Chair Emanuel Cleaver agreed in a harshly worded statement reacting to Monday’s budget. “Rebuilding our economy on the backs of the most vulnerable Americans is something that I simply can not accept,” Cleaver said. “I understand that now is the time for us as a nation to sacrifice in order to protect our children from a mountain of debt; however, I am struggling to understand how this budget helps us to best achieve this critical goal.”

Obama’s choice to attack the deficit by cutting community development funding and home heating assistance, among other programs, will almost certainly have disproportionately negative effects on blacks and Latinos, who are twice as likely to live in poverty as the rest of the population.

On the House floor yesterday, Rep. Jackson railed against Obama’s choices. “In the midst of the worst economy most of us have ever seen, we are cutting the legs of the unemployed, the underemployed and the economically insecure out from under them.”

KEITH- However, it does not matter. This just for show and to go home and say I criticzed the President. The CBC is going to vote for whatever Obama sends down.

If Obama said he's cutting medicaid and Head Start and Food Stamps the CBC would shout and yell but the CBC will vote for it. Black folk would shout and yell but they would still vote to reelect Obama.

Obama knows that whatever he does to blacks we will accept it. Even if he recommended free labor by us to europeans we would accept it.

Scary isn't it.

OK let your insults fly loyalists!

The current budget crisis should be a wake up call for blacks and Latinos to band together for the common good. We need to work together to own farms, food processing plants, stores, etc that cater to our needs. As many of get an improved quality of life that will lessen our dependency on the government to improve our schools and neighborhoods. White people makes on an average of $20,000 more than us which means they can upkeep their neighborhoods and improve their schools.

I know people complain, but how many voted for people that will be favored to a budget that Obama may have wanted to pass. Obama need people in both houses to help get a bill pass; otherwise, he will have to comprise on some budget issues to get a budget pass or we could have shutdown of the Gov't.

I can agree with that LBM.

We as african americans have a lot of power now. However, we are giving it away by giving overwhelming support to Obama and the democrat party. The CBC could essentially determine the course of the House and get their programs.

How do we use this power?

We sit out. We say I am not going to do this unless something is done for me. I will not vote for you if you dont support my issues. If we blindly vote for Obama because he is black we will lose again and again.

If the NAACP, CBC, Urban League other groups tell their members do not vote for anyone until we have this 20 point plan addressed in a real way, that will cause all political heads to turn.

That is power! Now I am not in alignment with liberal thinking at all. However, I would be proud to see african americans exercise our power and demand from anyone in politics to address our issues. Irregardless of color or political party.

Politicians want to stay in power. If you say I've got 5 million, 10, million, 400,000 10000, voters who will vote for you if you do ......they will listen.

But when you say I will vote for you no matter what because I dont like the other guy, you give up your power.

We as african americans have given up our power.

Loyalism is destroying us. In addition to other things.

I agree that we are loyal to the wrong political party and etc. It is ok to be loyal but don't do it blindly.

The two party system is a complete failure in America, they are both the same side of a different coin. It's time for a third party or Independent party to run this country.
