She didn't TELL anybody to do anything she SUGGESTED that it is healthier to breastfeed. Doctors have made this same claim for years. Women of today don't take/have time to breastfeed, it is too confining for most. AND, IMO a breast pump is a superficial way of breast feeding. An immense amount of bonding goes on between baby and mother when the child is actually breastfed. In addition to the future health of the baby, It has been proven through medical studies that babies that are breastfed have fewer dibilitating diseases than those who are not. Get off the politics , doesn't fit here, after all she's actually reiterating what Doctors have said, kind-a like a gentle nudge. |

It's already well established that breastfeeding has many benefits over formula milk. One of them, BTW, is re-tightening the woman's coochie after delivery. I think a main reason why BW don't breastfeed as often as WW is lack of leisure time due to being on 'da grind' more as opposed to the housewife routine. If they were more at home and with less stress over making ends meet they would likely breastfeed way more than WW because of the warmer, closer bonds that BW inherently have for their babies. I mean, just look at the average Afrikan mother from a somewhat relaxed rural area who carrys her child around almost constantly, offering her nipples until there's no more milk left in her mammary glands. One side note on this topic:... I gotta a confession to make here... I luv me some milk-filled tits in my mouth! When both of my childrens' mothers were pregnant... one of them, for some reason did not generate much milk... but the other generated a LOT - I mean, it would LEAK out by the slightest pressure. I'm telling ya, I didn't let that milk go to waste before the children were born... Each time we made love (while they were preggies), I sucked on those tits and enjoyed every drop. Well, the word got out that I was "nursing" and taking milk that was meant for the child... So, I looked into it and asked a OB-GYN if any harm was being done and he said "not at all"... in fact, it tends to stimulate the production of more milk. That was all I needed to hear and I was back to "nursing" like a baby. After my son was born, I tried to restrain myself but err now and again I couldn't resist those milk-swollen titties in my face and I suckled on them to the sheer pleasure of my lady. If you haven't tried that one fellas, you don't know what yer missing. Edited by Mister J, Feb 18 2011, 01:37 AM.

How could your lady be producing milk when she was pregnant? The milk doesn't come in until about the third day after the baby is born. |

The norm of when 'breast milk' is produced does not occur the same way, each and every time, or for every woman, Azucar. I'm surprised you didn't know that given your previous statement of having seven children from a BM (if I recall correctly). If you checkout (online) what MD's have to say about it... and then checkout what women, themselves, have to say about it... you'll learn that MD's concede that a substance called 'premilk' or technically, 'colostrum', can start forming and discharging during the mid-range of pregnancy... and that some women claim to have had 'breast milk' coming out of their teats WHILE PREGNANT... and I concur with that, down to the last sweet, drop. Here are a few observations: http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100418174148AARHam3 http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When_do_you_start_producing_breast_milk_during_pregnancy&isLookUp=1 Edited by Mister J, Feb 17 2011, 12:36 PM.

Actually you are correct! I spent over a decade total nursing my babies and there were many times when I was pregnant and still nursing the last one....so I know it's possible, lol. But for Baby #1, I never had any milk until after baby was born and after the colostrum. I guess that is the situation I was thinking about with your post. But every woman is unique and her body responds differently. Edited by Azucar, Feb 17 2011, 12:34 AM.

Hey Ditzy, this should make you feel better; FLASHBACK: Palin Proclaimed Oct. 2007 "Breastfeeding Awareness Month" Palin knocks breastfeeding initiative Sarah Palin, who has made a frequent target of First Lady Michelle Obama, poked fun at her attempts to encourage breastfeeding in her Long Island appearance today. "No wonder Michelle Obama is telling everybody 'you'd better breastfeed your baby,'" Palin said, after suggesting that increases in prices for commodities and gasoline since 2009 are the consequence of her husband's policies. "Yeah, you'd better, because the price of milk is so high right now." Obama supported including breast pumps under a tax exemption that covers medical equipment. Rep. Michele Bachmann has also criticized the push as a feature of the "nanny state." The perceived dig is quite a turnaround from the position Palin had as governor of Alaska, when she declared October 2007 "Breastfeeding Awareness Month" and issued a proclamation that said, "government and community organizations have a vested interest in protecting and promoting breastfeeding as a means of preventing infant malnutrition, morbidity, and mortality." |
