We FEEL you as you beg for bottles and spare change and shove aluminum siding stripped from the side of someones home, into a grocery cart you stole with no shame we feel you And your children feel you too. We watch you as you kiss and fondle other men other women ANYBODY but us. down low and boldl, out right with no shame andMORE LOVE than you have for your own mother we watch you And your children watch you too. We listen as you slander and label us ALL libelously for the WHOLE world to hear and judge us ALL of us as loud, uncouth, complaining BLACK BITCHES we hear you and your children hear you too. We see you hand cuffed and shackled drugged up And thugged out pimped and STILL pimping. Stepping on us stepping over us as if your Black mother never gave birth to you. we see you and your children see you too. There is not a star in the sky that has shined brighter than the love we once had there is no sex more pure or passionate between lovers than the love we have made there is nothing that will tear asunder that which God has bound God see you,we see you, we feel you we MISS you We need you. Hi, Patricia: The poem is moving and meaningful. (1) Who is the original author?... (i don't quite 'get' what "an old Black", means.) (2) What's your interpretation of the poem?; what is it saying, in your view? (3) Does it closely reflect your own sentiments? |

to Mister J:I wrote it , unfortunately I had the type to large and it cut off the bottom which read: "written by an old black lady (-me-) that remembers what real Black mean used to be like." No offenese to anyone To new York: It means we have been with Black men through thick and thin. It means the HARD headed people in the bible- running through the desert for 40 years is US- and it means that when ALL the dust blows over WHATEVER GOD deems as right will BE RIGHT. Regardless of what man chooses as HIS RIGHT! It means that Black Men are wounded. It means that -STOP- stop insulting us ALL- Be with WHOM you choose- but STOP shouting to the WHOLE world that ALL Black women are negative and unworthy. It simply is not true. You cannot lump us all into video vixens- it is UNFAIR. If you love a white woman- THEN LOVE HER! But don't HTE us for your choice. And don't explain it. If your love is real you don't have to explain it or explain why. Those that don't want Black women should just leave them be. When you say these things it sounds as if YOU not only don't want them but you don't want ANYBODY to want or respect them. Most people outside our race are making opinions about ALL Black women based on the shit they see on TV and cable-There are MILLIONS of Black women. Love whom ever you choose-Just don't bury Black women in the process. I hope I answered your question. |

May I ask, Ms. Patricia, what age range are you in (since you referred to yourself as "an old lady")? And, also, have you, yourself, had positive, long-term relationships w/ BM that included children (since you refer to children in your poem)? ('hope i'm not being too nosey). |
