Sad; Help me understand

I came across this website while I was reading a news article over the internet. I thought that this site would be able to give me some persepective as to why sometimes my boyfriend and I have such different ways of expressing ourselves. My boyfriend is black and I am white, we have been together for seven years (since I was 16). However, when I started reading some of the different topics; I became overwhelmed with sadness. Is this site somehow suppose to show that one race is better than another? This site made me think of things that I would have never imagined. Made me think that everyone who saw my boyfriend and I together would be passing judgement. I didn't fall in love with a BLACK man, I fell in love with the man that stood before me. I always thought that because of being raised in differently (he grew up in the city of Chicago and I grew up in the suburbs)made us both aware of different cultures and in turn made us respect each other more. I just need someone to tell me what life lesson I missed where we were taught to hate one another; not to embrace our differences but rather point them out as flaws and use them agianst one another. What lesson taught that somehow President Obama is judged on his skin color? The lesson where an encounter with one person from a different race suddenly means that the whole race is bad? The lesson where black women are spoken of so disrespectfully? I just don't understand how people have time to talk of hatred when we should be standing together. I understand that there is racism in this country, I am not naive, but I always took racial remarks as an ignorance to the race they are speaking about, a comment that should make you see where ignorance lays and hopefully get the chance to educate them and make them see a different way of thinking. Not use racial comments to fuel anger and resentment. Please help me understand this

I don't think anybody on here hate people because they're dating a person from another race, there are people on here that's dating outside their race. A lot of black women keep hearing that they will have a slim chance of getting married, so when they see a black man with a white woman they feel like their chance of getting a husband just got smaller.

If you are in love with a person that's all that matter, you can't worry about what's going on around you.

Kanda, you logged onto a strange and unusual site, for strange and unusual people.

If that fits you, then make yourself at home.
If not, then run like hell to avoid the risk of disrupting your mental processes and being demoralized.

And whatever it was that held you and your BM together for "seven years" should hold you for another seven (and longer).

Don't let this forum discourage you.
