They have been doing this since slavery, which in turn creates dissention in the Black community. We begin to fight amongst ourselves like crabs in a barrel for a piece of the so called "American Dream". White people have mastered the strategy of DIVIDE AND CONQUER. Sadly it makes some darker/brown skin people hate their skin color and start bleaching their skin and doing other so called "beauty" garbage. Than some lighter skin blacks establish a feeling of superiority over their own brotha or sista....because they supposedly have masta approval stamp. (House Negro) It makes me sick to my stomach to hear some black folks talking about so called good hair, light skin is better, and other bullshit. We are one people damnit and at the end of the day Whites still hate you rather if you're light or dark skin....You are still a NIGGA! I am light skin and I could give a shit what white folks think or accept I care about what my people think of themselves. Self-love, self-respect, self-dignity, self-worth, and self-defining is what is important. Always keep in mind the strategy of divide and conquer which white folks and others have mastered.
