Half the stuff you mention the government already helps the poor with. There is Section 8 and low income homes, food stamps, energy assistance, and Medicaid. I know people who make under 15,000 a yr. who live in places that cost thousands to rent out, yet they only pay a couple hundred (if that) because they have section 8. They pay a low set amount of $$ for their gas/light bill because they have energy assistance. No need to shell out money for groceries cause they get hundreds of dollars in food stamps every month. And they don't have to worry about healthcare bills cause they receive free or low cost health insurance courtesy of Uncle Sam. The kicker is that even if that person is not working they will not lose any of these benefits, the help they receive will increase!! Now to those that keep saying that Obama doesn't care about the poor, what more do you want the government to do to help them out?? |

Starting "The Great Society program", ensured that a full generation would be dependent upon the government! What bitter fruit it's bearing today. The attitude of "the government OWES me something", is very prevalent today! |

The US government invests and gives aid to lots of different countries. What does that have to do with the government programs already in place for poor people? |

The black farmers still can't get their money, even though the Democrats run the government. |

It's unfortunate for the farmers that healthcare and unemployment are more of a priority, wouldn't you say? And for anyone who still believes our President doesn't care about poor people despite the health care reform, stimulus and outsourced jobs bills.......**In June, more food stamps were distributed by the government than ever before in American history.** & who needs food stamps again? Republicans are of course trying to eliminate that; including S.S. Full article here.....http://www.cnn.com/2010/OPINION/10/08/martin. gingrich.vision/index.html?hpt=T2 And to those who want to claim Dem's as failures.....**How does a budget SURPLUS left by President Clinton in 2000 became a DEFICIT under President George W. Bush?** Let's be real about who really doesn't give a f***? |
