Boss Hogg you are right there is a difference between a billionaire and a millionaire. Billionaires are pretty smart with their money for the most part, what Jay Z did is stupid

I don't know what goes on in the mind of black people, rapper Jay Z bought and 8 million dollar car

http://www.urbanchat.com/news_article_readmore.php?nid=2626
LOL That car is ugly as hell. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a car if i had Bill Gates money, but if that's what makes him happy more power to him. I just hope he doesn't end up broke like a lot of black entertainers once they get old.
You don't see billionaires buying anything like that, I bet rapper birdman can't sleep tonight
because he just bought a 2 million dollar car, somebody just out did him
How do you know a billionaire hasn't bought that car? I highly doubt Jay-z is the only person in the world who has bought that car. Again most weathly people spend lavishly, it's just not reported. Bill Gates is just not putting a video of his lastest purchase on youtube like Birdman. There's not websites dedicated to reporting what billionaires buy unlike rappers and other entertainers....
Ummm....I have to disagree with you on that. The wealthy stay wealthy by not spending on frivolous things and living modestly. Bill Gates spoke about leaving his children money to be comfortable, but not so much that they won't want/have to work. Most times wealthy people (who want to retain their wealth), make expensive purchases as investments.
Bill Gates owns a Porsche 959, this is a car that couldn't even be legally driven on the street until a few years ago. Why would you have a car that you can't even drive. Would you not consider that a lavish purchase?? Paul Allen owns 3 luxury yachts that cost hundereds of millions of dollars, and cost millions to just to maintain. Lakshmi Mittal, one of the richest men in the world, spent close to $55 million on his daughters wedding. How do you all think all these luxury businesses actually stay in business?? If Jay-z was the one person in the entire world that bought a Maybach, Maybach would no longer be in business. Somebody else has to be purchasing their cars. The average person can't afford these things and rappers don't have enough wealth to keep ALL these businesses afloat....
Yes, but Bill Gates is a multi BILLIONAIRE. Big difference between that and millions. I'm sure the wealthy have expensive things, but they tend to be smart about what they spend things on. A Porsche is an investment. He could sell that car for alot of money any year. The same goes with a yacht; an inverstment. People rent yachts all the time. They're renting from the OWNER. I doubt if he would purchase an $8 million dollar car. The car normally goes for half a million. Unfortunately, Jigga along with many others can't even pronounce the name correctly. It's mi-bok people! lol What a shame.....
So Jay-z purchasing a limited editon luxury car is considered lavish spending, but Bill Gates doing the same is an investment??

Last time I checked yachts were still a depreciating asset. Renting out your yacht may cover your maintaince cost, but you will not recoup all the money you paid for it. For most yachts it cost 10% of what you paid for it to maintain it. Paul Allen has the largest privately owned yacht that cost him 200 million. That's 20 million a year in maintaince fees alone. I don't even know if he rents his boats out...

My point is that Jay-Z is not the lone person buying these luxury cars. Rappers don't have the money to keep Mercedes, Bentley, Lamborgini, Porche and all other luxury car companies afloat. If all rappers just all of sudden quit buying these cars, none of car companies would miss a beat. There would be no luxury car finanical crisis. Why? Because there are other wealthy people that are doing just as much spending as these rappers, if not more. We just don't hear about it.

Jay-z made over 80 million dollars last year alone, plus his wife made about the same amount as well. I don't when a couple making 160 million in a year was barely making it. His net worth is somewhere around 400 million, so I don't think this car purchase is going to brake him.

I don't think that Jay-Z actually owns this car...

http://hiphophoney.com/blog/jay-8-million-dollar-maybach-exelero/

Though not actually an owner of the car, Jay-Z did drive it in his Lost Ones video a couple of years ago.

This car is the ultimate luxury sports vehicle and boasts a top speed of 218 mph and can go from zero to 60 mph in just a little over four seconds. An insane feat considering that it weighs in at just under 3 tonnes. Though it seems like an engineering impossibility, this rapid acceleration is made possible with the help of a bi-turbo v12 engine that is nestled under the hood.
The Exelero was first developed as a one shot design that was commissioned by Fulda Tyres and was designed by students at the Pforzheim Polytechnic Department of Transport Design. The car was primarily used as a showroom car; however, due to the demand created by the sheer beauty of this vehicle an $8 million price tag was attached to it. Who can afford that price you ask? Not too many people, but I’m sure Jay-Z falls into the list of those who can.

Again we're talking millions; not hundreds of billions. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! HUGE! I just don't think it was a smart purchase, if it was a purchase. & we don't hear about many wealthy people making lavish purchases because they share much of their wealth, so that's what people will discuss. But Hova is acting like he hasn't had money before..lol....it's comical. He's been rich like 10 years now. There's so much more he could have done w/ $8 mil...just my opinion. :P

Tater, I have thought about my comment I made earlier, and I came to the conclusion, that most of the Rappers who are buying these expensive toys are fullfilling a dream. The majority of them are products of deprivation and I think they feel like they are doing damn good just to be alive. So they spend as though there is no tomorrow because that's the way they have lived up to this point. Perhaps when they slow down and realize life has another kind of price tag they will give up the spending spree. What do you think?

I would agree Ms.Memdear. I think anyone who all of sudden comes into big wealth is going to do some lavish spending. They want to show off their weatlth. Look at the old homes of some weatlhy families. Vanderbelt, Rockafeller, and Hearst all built these huge homes back in the day to show ppl how wealthy they became. It's the same with these rappers. Being in the lastest and greatest is nothing new.

I'm not trying to say that buying an $8 million car is a cool purchase. I just don't like this belief that only rich black people are buying these luxury items and are stupid for doing so...

Oh, I don't believe that either, but we are known to try to 'stunt' as they say. He's had money for some time now;you would think he was used to it by now....
