^^^ Your opinion of me is noted.
Its not my only opinion of you, I just disagree with your view on relationships, but I still respect your decisions despite my sarcasm. But really whats wrong with girl power as long as women in turn are not being emasculating to men.
'Not your "only opinion", huh? Then why don't you come out and say what part of your description of "those fools" you DO apply to me. In the meantime, understand that 'girl power' is just another branch of, and name for, feminism that has the same male status-undermining, objectives. In a short sentence, THAT's "what's wrong with it".
What I believe to be girl power has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with undermining the male status. I believe in teaching young ladies self esteem, helping them realize that they are more than just sex objects and baby making machines. Helping them to realize that they can achieve their goals and that their life has meaning. That is what girl power means to me. So often they are told they are nothing, that they are less than, etc, etc. And if that undermines the male status as you say, oh well! And Mister J. I already told you I disagree with your view on polygynous relationships. I find it rather selfish. And if you are one of those men who thinks all women need to be led and housewives and that type of thing, I disagree with that. And it seems you have a problem with women and feeling empowered. As if you are afraid they will take away your manhood or something.
It seems like what we have, here, are 'irreconcilable differences'. That's when two people can't see eye-to-eye on something fundamental or essential... and they end up having to part company because of it. Our perspectives on 'girl power' are like night & day. And that's okay as we can agree to disagree. If that's your idea of 'girl power', SUA,... then more 'power' to you. Alright then!

Most of Tyler Perry movies show black men in a negative light
I don't know any other black man that trash black men like Tyler Perry Ya know, if we can set aside our emotions and look at the message presented relative to M/FM. Both genders have some cleaning up to do., and if you really understand what he's trying to say you will see that there are problems abound for both. I have watched most of his movies and each time I notice that he presents a picture that is quite "typical" of a part of our culture. Women as addicts, men as egotistical azzholes, or generic pricks or women/men who can't/won't leave the "baggage" in the dumpster, women who are severly hooked on status, and all the rest .
Lots of small and not so small issues that create all kinds of actions/reactions to the people involved. But I have yet to see where Tyler is going against the grain. Regardless of his personal life it's a story with numerous factual accounts of day to day living for a lot of people. The reason IMO, that most people are screaming about the story line is because it's hard to deal with facts that are put before the public. I would imagine if these movies were shown to blacks only, there would be little said. The negativism that is displayed is just a guilty reaction that one prefers to not deal with, both men/women, which is all about emotions. If one can see themselves in a character then it's time for some soul searching. Otherwise it's just a lesson to be learned.
What about "Waiting to exhale" he was a dipshit. Whats the difference? I think because Tyler keeps slapping us in the face with it trying to help people understand where, how, why, when they screwed up it makes some very uncomfortable but you have to think about what the story-line is really portraying, it's nothing to take personally if the shoe doesn't fit. Just make sure you don't fall into the bucket.

I heard his new movie called For Colored Girls really make black men like bad. Actually it just makes men look bad! Men that happen to be black. And it makes women look bad too. We had a religious nut mother, a slutty woman, a control freak woman who emasculated her husband and went on and on about her money, a stupid foolish girl who got pregnant, a weak woman who kept going back to a man that played her like a fool. So the black women are looking awfully bad as well.
Have you actually watched the movie. Go watch it and then make that decision again.

It sounds like people would get depressed watching that movie, I didn't go see the movie Precious either. I heard that movie was really depressing
