Hey, Rick, I couldn't agree more. There was in fact a time when that special ''look'' would do the trick but not so much anymore. Nowadays, there are still those who believe talking to their kids over and over until they acknowledge the message is the best way as opposed to the good ole fashion ass whuppin. Some would argue both methods achieve the same results with varying long term adverse effects. I'm not qualified to make professional assessments regarding discipline but it would seem that while some kids do grow up responding to verbal messages, others grow up responding to acts of violence. I can't say what's wrong or right when it comes to disciplining a child. I just know what didn't work for me. What I do know is how uncomfortable I feel when seeing a small child being verbally or physically abused in public. Edited by Jan, Feb 16 2010, 05:11 PM.

Child rearing starts in the home. When my mom and grandmother took me out in public they didn't have to worry about nothing. I was put in check at home. Now you go to the mall or grocery store and kids are on the floor kicking and screaming for shit. That was not tolerated where i grew up. |

A lot of people are home schooling their kids today because the public school has gotten so bad. One of my friends are home schooling their kids. |

Public schools are fucked up because the kids are. School are nothing but meeting places for inner city youths. As a teacher i would be too afraid to teach in those environments. Parents don't care. How can you as a parent send a teenager to school and not see a report card in 3 years and not question him or her. A lot of that is going on. |

all that we see that going on with the youth of today, is due to the time, meaning, change has to come..they have to be taught self love, and kind, this is a major part of the problems. Love cure many ills, this society doesnt promote love for one another...Yet they will step in and remove them from your home,,when you try to discipline them., put them in foster homes, oftentimes, they are returned with mental issues. They get to teenager, then the police steps in an beat the crap out of them, if not kill them. Yet, parents arent being allowed to rear them. This is done by design,,all over the television, documentary on growing gangs population..do you think they dont know this, it all done by design, when they get ready to come down on the communities, with swap, army, etc....to just slaughter them, this is what is prophesies to come about...blood shed up to the horses brow? who blood do you think they will be sheeding..this all done by design... |

I think kids in general are allowed to see too much on television. I agree with Obama when he said that parents need to turn the television off. |

That's terrible I bet you that little kid can write a book about the hell that he has been through growing up, I bet you he didn't have a home life. That kid probably had to raise himself. |
