It really bothers me to see young or any mother standing at the bus stop. This also bothers my husband as well. Some days he will come home and say I would rather walk and you have the car before you stand at the bus stop. Sometimes, he come home and tells me that he gave a mother a ride home. I don't get up set with him. I just wish the mothers didn't have to go to the bus stop. How do you all feel? |

I took public transit with my daughter because living in densely populated cities, (a) try to find parking, (b) the train is faster due to traffic jams and (c) car insurance is a bitch! I think there's a difference due to where you live. But living in the NYC metro area, having a car can be more of a burden than anything. I pay my car note, insurance, and garage expense so I don't have to deal with alternate side of the street parking. The total expense, $700/month. And I haven't even put gas in it yet. I can't drive it to work because traffic is insane and parking in Manhattan by my job is appx. $300/month. So in some cases, having a car doesn't make complete sense. |

I see where bastonecannella is coming from b/c I'm from NY and it's still tough to take public transportation with child/children however it saves a lot and is worth it...however being that I am currently in GA...I totally agree with you...I can not stand seeing mothers at the bus stops....for one I know how far they had to walk just to get there...secondly the buses take forever...and thirdly it's tough...I've given a mother and child a ride home one night from a bus stop b/c it was so dark and it's not like living up north...you're usually standing at the bus stop alone...the young mother was a little skeptic at first but she did let me take her home which saved her a lot of time....didn't want her and her child out so late |
