The problem in America today is that we learn Euro views and fail to gain knowledge on others. Columbus did not discover America. He even said that when he stumbled upon American there were Natives (what we know as Native Indians) already there. So How the hell do you discover a country if someone is already there and civilization has arose. The last sentence i say the word "stumble", because that is what he did. Columbus was sailing for India, and had his ass lost and STUMBLED on America, where he betrayed the Indians that befriended him in order to start Euro civilization. America was built off of thieves, but they praise them like they produced no harm. Everything we learn in school is from euro ways (example) Hippocrates was founder of medicine...but they dont speak of how Imhotep from Africa who discovered many cures from botanical substances lived damn near 2 centuries before Hippocrates. And then i get suspended because i disagree and dispute the teachers validity of her statements.....so sad....so sad |

I know how you feel. But history is not objective overall. It's his story. I think it objectionable that we celebrate Columbus for this reason. But what sounds better, "Columbus, founder of America" or "Columbus, tyrant who stole America from its Native peoples so it could be populated by Europeans"? |
