My Grandmother is a Eastern Start and she says that she thinks joining the Mason is a good idea....Well unfortunately even though it's my grandmother I can't simply join an organization without studying its history. I even had to figure out why i was supposed to be a Christian and not a Muslim like so many other blacks; well I did recently solidify my faith in Christianity, but as I'm studying more and more about this Eastern Star and Masonry.....I'm not seeing alot of good at all. looks like alot of the people involved are simply pawns of a bigger scheme....any thoughts?

Oklas.......My grandfathers were 33rd degrees and my granny was electa and I thought it was something. I joined and within the first year I became inactive I felt that is was a cult and my mind would not allow them to take over. The GrandMaster would call me and make demands and orders and my Grand Matron I gained top star within in weeks. It was not healthy for me.............Like Geechie said do your research..........

you know what....I've been researching for some months now reading different things and it just doesn't sit right with me. I'm going to trust my gut feeling and chill on this move. I wanted to join for the same reasons anyone joins a frat or soro; comradery, brotherhood, but I'll pass.

Good job Oklas in my opinion it is nothing like a frat or a soro I went into my first meeting and I was like what the hell have I gotten myself into. Because I thought I was going to be doing things like giving back to my community.

Oklas I have to say I am proud of you as a black man because or taking shape in your life and that is a very good thing. What I have highed here in red I am struggling through in life at this moment. I don't claim a religon. I read from the bible and studying the Qur'an. I have live by alot of the muslims belief that beliefs that make sense to me and the same as christianity. I just take one day at a time. Because I to at the end of the day want to be able to look in the mirror and be happy just as everyong else.

This is so hard for me because you see I had a praying christain mother and grandmother and I am not superstar but I am a beautiful person inside and out.
