Have you ever wondered how stars get the nerve to do revealing love scenes knowing their children, parents, friends and neighbors will see it? |

Some Black stars won't take certian roles. Movie companies wanted Angelea Bassett to play the role of a Whore in Monsters Ball, but she turned that role down. She said that she wasn't going to degrade herself like that. But Halle Berry saw money, and she took that role. So you have 2 different Black women, with 2 different standards. I respect Angela Basset more, because she stood by what she believed in. She didn't compromise her principles for money. |

Black Actors both men and women need to give a lot of thought about the roles they accept. In fact people in general may want to stop checking their own personal morals, and standards at the door. Were fast becoming a nation of whores and pimps. Willing to do anything if the price is right. The American of african descent has always served as this nation's moral compass. Now that we've bought in to the "everyone has a price" way of thinking we have lost our national moral authority. We wonder why our families are dysfunctional. We wonder why our young women strive to be whores. We wonder why our young men act out as bafoons. minstrels, and disrespectfull louts. Well my brothers and sisters... the answer is simple... any of you over the age of 40 can just look in the mirror for your answer. We have sold out on our race. To quote Simon Garfunkle we've sold out for a pocket full of gold, and sunshine promises. I also submit the answer is in the same generation. The generation that broke our people is the only hope of us ever again getting on the right track. My generation. My generation is the only link back to where we as a people although loathed, and looked down apon.. were universally respected by friend and foe. Were connected to a time when black people were actually feared so that our innocents, and children were slaughtered. Were witnesses to a people who stood up to violence, and pain with dignity, and pride. If our progeny will ever regain the place of respect, honor, and dignity we once held. It will be up to our generation. After were gone... so is that connection. Gone is the real history, and all thats left will be his-story. And we see what thats gotten us. |

Electric Elevator I agree with everything you said. There were certian roles that Lena Horne refused to play, because she wanted to present Black people in a positive light. Look at BET and the Rappers they're all over television making us look bad. Rappers need to make better songs, to represent Black people in a positive light. If you judged Black people based on BET, why would anybody respect Black people? No other group of people degrade themselves like Black Americans |

We need to stop concerning ourselves with how others make "us" look....we are so much more than the media hype that play to that mindset....they are not making "us" look bad, the ones who are degrading themselves.....degrade only "themselves".....really, this "housenegro" mindset, must stop.....the mindset that controls the media are constantly dishing out "negatives" to keep us inwardly and outwardly fighting to climb out of that "invisible box" these deeply fearful, flawed individuals live in.....as long as " we as a black race" continue to have these knee jerk reactions to what "others" are doing, they will continue to feed off of our vibes... Remember how the Academy Awards reward the Black actors ..... when they "perform" the "stereotype"...i.e. Monster Ball, Halle Berry, Denzel Washington ..portraying a gangster, now we have "Precious"....with Monique mentioned as a possible winner.....why....the portrayal of a "negative"....this gives the White public security in maintaining their negative view of blacks....and they continue to HOLD ON TO their feelings and belief of racial superiority and (sadly) supposed beauty.... just look at the frenzy going on about Tiger's women, but how many blacks did he sleep with? who knows or .....really should care....this is NOT AN equal rights situation......race in this country has played out to the mack....and is bringing in BIG BUCKS for those who continually play to the mass hysteria on BOTH SIDES OF THE SUN.......NIGHTTIME/DAYTIME........NOW IT'S 'time' to wake up, get up and be the individuals that we are "individually" not what is continually being "programmed".........(I heard that ole Lincoln don freed da slaves yall......boy, whot you talkin bout, "freed".....har ha ha...you best be gettin on ober der and pick da corn fo dat ole mean a...s ober seer hits yo buttt wid dat dar ....whip...... now whose "wielding the whip?
