I agree with you, some White people might not accept you if you go to a strong black church. If you go to a watered down passive church, they might accept you better.

There has always been certian kind of blacks, that white people accept.

Well i mean that sounds a bit brainwashing. hahaha.
You do not have to shy away from who you are, But its a talent to know how to conversate and adapt to all races that you are around. If you are positioned in one of the high parts of the business level pyramids, you will see it is almost white. So knowing how to conversate with a lot of different whites would be a nutrient to your success. but if you go to a HBCU where the population of whites are reversed, then you are destined to struggle a little.

There are some blacks, that white people will not accept. White people don't accept strong black people, they tend to accept more passive blacks. White America said that Dr. King was a trouble maker.

true but passive doesn't mean culturally undefined. It just means adapt in your situation. Prime example...My mom is the only black female colonel at her military base. Over the summer, when i went to work with her to help out, she seemed more quiet and professional, but at home she was the same South Side Chicago raised woman. It is a matter of adapting...but if you have never been subject to adapt because you are always around your own people (like those at HBCU's) then you have to learn by trial and error in a level where it is unacceptable.

White people don't have to change who they are, in order to get a position. George Bush didn't have to tone down his whiteness in order to become the president. But Black people have to tone down their blackness, in order to get certian positions.

Condelezza Rice is accepted by White America, but Congress woman Cynthia McKinney is not

Cynthia McKinney is seen as a dangerous Field Negro

Where as Condelezza Rice comes off as a House Negro

Majority rules. Now if the house of Reps and Congress was all black with 2 whites and a Hispanic then you might get away with "son, that is tight". But yes some whites can adapt too. George Bush was not one of them, you see when he went to the black community (back in 2000 election) how out of place he looked...But Clinton was the complete opposite when he was running.

Now Cynthia (those eyes scare the hell out of me) She is very smart, but she is not passive at all. I see her as disrespectful in some ways. So if your are not black or have not been around blacks, you would think she is obnoxious and arrogant. But those that have been around blacks may see her as down to earth.

Rice and Colin Powell for instance were very quiet. They don't have anything to prove anymore. First succeeding African American secretary of states. they are humble. which will get you a lot further when dealing with any race.

LOS, you are not too bright! We live in a country that is white and most black have grown up around whites all their lives. We see shows on TV that seldom have any other race but white people. So how is possible that we do not know how to socialize with white people. I mean I grew with with the majority of my childhood friends being white. I use to have sleep overs with my white friends and visit some of my white teachers. Your argument does not make any senses what so ever?

Again, at HBCUs, we have quite a few white teachers and classmates as well as people from all over the world. You learn to deal with people from all over the world. I have friends in every country in the world and from every race in the world.

Now. white man, did you know that most of the first mayors of this country are products of HBCUs and to win the election, they had to win over blacks as well as white. Did you know that most blacks from HBCUs have quite a few white friends. Did you know that the first black mayor of the city of Atlanta is a product of HBCUs? In fact, the mayor seat in Atlanta have become know as Howard South because all the black mayors have had a connection to Howard University. Howard might as well because Mayor U because almost all Black mayor comes from that school.

Some of went to HBCU because we did not want to be the N word when we walked the campus at night. I visited my cousin at a PWC and they what I was called. In fact, when we play sports against some of the PWC, we repeatedly get called out of our names (slurs if you catch my drift). Why should I have to go through that. BTW, I also went to a college with white people for Grad School. How many people of color had white friends not many, but i did. I was able to "socialize" with white very well. Plus, I get along quite well with white people on my job they love me. They see a kind, concerned, and caring person who has their best interest at heart.

BTW, when it comes to the computer network in my office, guess who the white folks talk to about the problems? Two guys from a HBCUs because they know the job will get done.

See...you just said it. You grew up around whites, and have been around them like myself. So you know how to socialize with them. But people who do not hang with other races would not be able to o that (ITS COMMON SENSE!!!). !!!!!

You hang around whites, you learn whites culture.

OK lets flip it.

You have whites that can go to the "hood" and not know what to say, act, do, etc. But you have whites that have grew up around blacks that feel comfortable in that place.

SOOOO.....

You have blacks that have not been around whites that may feel uncomfortable or not know what to say becasue they do not know their culture. But if you have been around them (like you said you have) then you learn their behavior. It is not that hard to interpret.

And There you go making it seem like i said you get a lower education at HBCU's. I did not say that at all. I said that you disable yourself socially. ow if you grew up around whites and some of them are your best friends and you just wanted to go to an HBCU then it doesn't hurt you. But if you grew up in majority black area, went to majority black school, then tend an HBCU. you are crippling yourself.
