Sarako dashed through crowds of people in Azural, heading for an apothecary store he usually does business at. He had just won another duel and earned some more money, which he planned to spend on some herbs, potions, and food. As he rounded a corner, he almost ran into a elderly woman, narrowly missing her. "Watch where you're going!" the lady shouted at him as he continued his dash to the apothecary. The store was in plain sight, and he slowed down, briskly walking into the shop. A few minute later, he swiftly exited the store lugging a bag of various herbs and potions - he had generously paid the apothecary with most of his silver coins he earned from the duel. The first level of Azural is crowded, as always. Sarako thought to himself. Time to find a tavern, that last attack took a lot out of me...hard to believe I had to use so much energy in such a simple duel. He then began to search for a local tavern to rest and refresh himself, as he was somewhat tired from his recent match. Sarako continued to jog around the marketplace, looking for a tavern. Even for afternoon weather, it's a little bit hot today...or is it just me? He thought to himself as he continued his search. A few moments later, he caught sight of a tavern, and without even looking at the name, he walked right into the building and sat down at a table in the corner of the room farthest from the entrance. He set down his bags of herbs and potions as well as his personal pack, and waved to a serving woman. "Uh...I would like a cup of ice-cold water and two loaves of bread, please." With that, he pulled out three silver coins and handed them to the lady, who then walked away to fill out his order. Finally able to catch his breath, Sarako gave a short sigh, and relaxed into the chair he was sitting on. I wonder what it's like outside Azural...I guess I'll find out soon. he thought to himself as he eyed his spear strapped onto his pack. You still make me feel uneasy, he glared at the spear. After all these years we've been together...I still don't even know how you came into my hands!" Sarako then gave another sigh, and waited quietly in his corner, his mind shifting from thoughts about his spear to his imaginations of life outside Azural. |

(Hope you don't mind me dropping in.) Tobi walked swiftly through the crowded streets of Azural, not wanting to attract too much attention. He had just arrived and managed to dodge the inspections by making himself invisible. He had choose a quiet, deserted alley to reveal himself and quickly blended in with the crowd. But this isn't yet, for even within the city, the guards roam the streets, checking random people to make sure they aren't the enemy. Tobi wondered why he was even here. He was on a mission to find an item for a friend, and he isn't even getting paid for it. How did I let him talk me into this? Tobi wondered to himself. The fox shook those thoughts and concentrated on finding his way towards the next gate, which would be at least several hour's walk. A beggar came up to him and said, "Do you have any money to spare?" Tobi quickly threw him several gold coins and said, "There. Now begone." Then he dashed away. Suddenly, a group of armed men wearing silver armor appeared in front of him. "Damn it. Those guards could've came at a better time," he muttered to himself. Not wanting to get caught, he quickly ran into the nearest building, which happened to be a tavern. It was crowded and full of people. This was a good thing, since if any guards came, they would have to engage the crowd before they can find Tobi. It also meant that everyone was distracted and wouldn't pay attention to a kitsune (if they knew what that is). Tobi sighed and calmly walked around the first floor. It looked like all the tables were full. However there was a small table in the back, located farthest from the entrance, with only one person sitting there. Guess I have to sit there for a bit, he thought as he walked over. "Pardon me sir," he said, "I hope you don't mind me sitting here." With that, he pulled out a chair and sat down. |

Sarako was so absorbed into his daydreaming that he did not notice the figure approach him. Pardon me sir, I hope you don't mind me sitting here. As he heard the figure speak to him, he snapped back into reality, his gaze flying around the room and then stopping at the figure that was seated on the same table he was on. He was about to get up and excuse himself, before he noticed something about this person that was...different from all the others that were in the bar. "Uh, sure...I don't mind you sitting here." Sarako said to the figure. He then noticed that the one seated at his table was not human, but he could not clearly identify him just yet. "A little hot today, don't you think?" Sarako said to him. He noticed that the food had not come yet, so he decided to ask the stranger some questions, and possibly find out some information about what life was like outside Azural. He felt awkward, being open to a stranger like this. Normally, he would had left the tavern at the first sight of someone approaching him, but he was caught off guard, and there was something interesting about this stranger that made him reconsider running from him. |

"Yes indeed, it is a hot day," Tobi replied to the stranger. "But I've seen hotter days than this." He waved a hand called a maid over. "Give me some fine wine," he said and paid her several silver coins. The maid nodded and left. Since Tobi was here, why not enjoy himself for a few moments, after all, he was getting tired. The bar would not only serve as a resting stop, but also a place where he can receive the latest news. Who knows, maybe this stranger might know something useful that can aid Tobi. Turning back to the stranger, he said, "Oh, how rude of me. My name is Tobi. And whom do I own the pleasure of sharing a table with?" |

Sarako had closed his eyes while listening to Tobi talk. He tried to sense the stranger's emotions, but there was too much commotion in the tavern for him to be able to concentrate. He opened his eyes as Tobi introduced himself and directed the same question towards him. Sarako had come prepared, however - people usually asked for his name, but he had been the victim of that trick several times in the past, and learned not to be too trusting to strangers. "My name is Sohan, nice to meet you," Sarako lied as he outstretched his right hand for a handshake. He would be able to confirm his suspicions if Tobi accepted the handshake. "What brings you to this tavern?" Sarako asked the stranger, hoping to build up a small trust in Tobi to begin asking him more serious questions. Outside the tavern, a commotion was stirring up. People began to shout, and others in the tavern got up and left the tavern, trying to see what was happening. The woman that filled out his order approached him and set down a cup of water with ice floating in it, as well as some bread. Some disturbance outside the tavern, and my meal just arrived. If something goes wrong, I can't flee the tavern without drawing attention to myself...this is not a good situation for me. Sarako thought to himself. The shouting outside the tavern was gradually getting louder. |

"I'm here to take a little break and do some shopping," Tobi lied quickly, but he declined the handshake, as he did not want to show that he is a kitsune. After all, he did not want to give out too much information to a stranger. He still didn't know whether he could trust this young man or not. Humans, he thought to himself. A servant brought him some wine and Tobi accepted it. He took a sip and almost threw up. Human wine is disgusting. And to think I paid some money for this. Good thing my hood hides my emotions, Tobi thought. Turning his attention to the young man in front of him, Tobi said, "How do you find life inside the city my friend?" |

"City life for me is the usual, nothing special has happened for quite some time, I guess." Sarako told Tobi. He had expected Tobi to reject the handshake to conceal his identity. He gave a quick glance at the wine that the stranger drank out of. Wine...this one can actually afford it. He's probably not some random jerk living in the first level of Azural. Sarako thought to himself. Before Sarako could ask any more questions, he saw a man thrown into the tavern, impacting a table and causing it to collapse. The man cursed loudly as he got up and ran back outside. As the man left the building, Sarako felt that odd feeling, the feeling that something dangerous was about to happen in the area he was in. He lifted his pack and strapped it onto his back, and shifted his bag of herbs and potions closer to him. He was ready to make a run for it if the situation turned bad. "Hey, Tobi, I'm going to make a guess that what's going on outside is about to take place in the tavern," Sarako said to the stranger across from him. He then leaned slightly towards Tobi and whispered "If things get ugly, I'll have to take action in a rather...disturbing fashion." Sarako then reached his left hand inside his robe, feeling for one of his favorite Elemental Haze potions. He prepared himself for what was about to happen. Guess I'll be skipping another meal. Sarako said to himself in his mind. |

"Don't worry my friend. This is nothing, I have seen far worse," Tobi said smiling. This young human has much to learn. Tobi saw nothing wrong with someone getting thrown into a building, fights like these are pretty common, especially in Azural. He took out a small flask filled with a pink liquid and drank it. It was a type of energy potion that Tobi used to renew his flow of mana, and at the same time it would help get rid of the nasty taste of human wine. Tobi got up and said, "I'll take a look outside." He threw a gold coin on the table and left the tavern. As he stepped outside, he saw several guards surround a man lying on the ground. To Tobi, this man wasn't killed by some normal street thug. The small marks on his neck indicates that a skilled person had killed him. Interesting, Tobi thought to himself, Could there possibly be another assassin nearby? He walked over to a vendor who is selling books and randomly picked up a huge book on Haven history. Throwing the man some silver coins, Tobi carried his book over to a wooden chair outside the tavern and said down. Time to start monitoring. |

As Sarako saw Tobi leave the building, he slowly exhaled and stared at his cup of water. Most of the ice had already melted, and Sarako considered taking a sip. He said he's seen far worse, then that definitely means he travels outside Azural very often. Sarako thought to himself. He thought about setting his pack down on the floor and relax for some time, but he could still clearly perceive that feeling of danger that had helped him from countless situations. He decided to keep the pack on, just in case he felt the feeling of danger spike and he had to leave. Sarako took a brief look at the gold coin Tobi left on the table. He had not seen one up close for quite some time, and quickly remembered a bitter thought. Money runs the world...and destroys it as well. A necessity of the world that drives corruption. Sarako took a deep breath as he withdrew his left hand from the inside of his robe, saving the potion for later use. Sarako closed his eyes as he drank from the cup of water. "He's different from the others, that Tobi," Sarako muttered to himself. |

Haven - Draco
|
Phantom darted through the crowd, trying to catch the criminal. But so far, he was eluding him. And the large population of Azural wasn't helping. Finally, Phantom pinned him in front of tavern. The man tried to fight back, but Phantom kicked him into the tavern. By the time he ran out, guards already surrounded him. "Take the thief away," Phantom told the captain. He turned around and was about to walk off when a body lying on the ground caught his eye. He walked over and examined the body. The victim was a middle aged man from Kantha. Judging by his appearance, he was probably a wealthy trader. Several red cuts was visible on his neck, so he was killed recently. Phantom called several guards over and told them to take to body away for inspection and seal off the area. Who could've done this? he thought to himself as he looked around him. |
What am I? I am death!
