Member Information: Member's Name: Cedric Age: Including this one, how many characters do you have 1 If new, how did you find us? Recommendation from friends Character Information: Character's Full Name: Sarako "Soul-Haze" Kwon Age: Appears to be 15, true age unknown Gender: Male Faction: Neutral Race: Defined as Human Physical Description: Sarako is just a little over six feet tall, with black hair, brown eyes, and his skin color is yellow. Sarako wears dark-brown pants that are a little large for his age, as well as tan-brown shoes that hardly generates any sound when walking. He wears a long, flowing, loose robe that is split in the middle and light-tan colored, with a few light-blue stripes flowing from waist-to-bottom of the robe and around the arms, as well as a dark-blue bordering on the edges of the robe. The garments are long enough to expose only the head, neck, and hands. White undergarments with several pockets hold flasks of healing salves and various medicines. A tightly-fitting brown belt curled around his waist, under the robe, holds many potions, scrolls, and bottles tied onto the belt. A dark-silver spear made of unknown materials is strapped onto the left side of his back by a black leather strap, next to a brown leather pack that holds most of his belongings and other items. A black pentagram is imprinted onto the back of his left hand. Personality Description: Sarako appears to be an average teenager wearing what others consider to be a bathrobe, but many people underestimate him just because of his age and appearance. Sarako is considered a quiet and shy boy by others, usually because he has a very quiet voice when talking to the few strangers he does not run from - he usually evades questions directed at him by dismissing himself from conversations, and doesn't quite develope good relationships with strangers because of his cynical attitude towards them. He prefers to work alone, without the help of others, but when he acts in a group, his supportive skills and powers are incredibly strong. When in command of a large army or squad of troops, Sarako is shown to be a brilliant tactician and advisor, able to easily predict move and countermove, as well as unusual strategies. Sarako has a knack of sensing when something bad will happen, including assassination attempts. His personality is very passive in and out of combat, preferring to give the first move to his foes, and always countering what his opponents do. Although wary of the public, Sarako is willing to help others, even when he is occupied with other tasks at hand. He is not very open to other people he does not know, and thinks to himself most of the time when nothing interesting is happening. The few friends that he has, however, know that he is in fact an energetic, thoughtful, and caring person, pulling off jokes at random times. Sarako dislikes taking sides in conflict, as he can usually see both the good and bad parts of the different sides. When his friends are in danger, however, he fiercely defends them, both in arguments, and in combat. In combat, Sarako sticks to mainly defensive spells and the occasional offensive spell to defend himself - he always tries to avoid unnecessary conflict and when forced to fight, tries to persuade the opponents to stop fighting - Sarako is very hesitant in combat, always having second thoughts and considering his actions as excessive. If he thinks his opposition is easy and presents little danger, he toys around with them like an energetic kid, not taking the fight seriously. When in real danger, Sarako stops the persuasion, and does not hesitate anymore when fighting, unloading his offensive spells to disable the opponent, never aiming to kill another living sentient being unless absolutely necessary. Sarako focuses on supreme defense and slowly exhausting the opposition using his energy-conserving skills and erratic movements to outlast and outdo his enemies, so he can either knock the opponents unconscious or stun them and retreat from combat. Sarako has an incredibly deep grudge and hatred against bows and arrows, and will sometimes verbally snap at people that wield such weapons. Sarako does not desire more power, influence, or control unlike many others, instead preferring to try to live a "normal" life, and learning more about Terona and it's inhabitants. He wants to learn more about himself, what has happened in the past, and what will happen in the future. Sarako seeks to answer these questions, but he may be heading into something far bigger and dangerous than what he is looking for, and he will not be able to handle the situation by himself. Sarako will need to learn how to connect with other people, or his journey might lead him into danger that he cannot escape... Character History: Sarako did not know how his beginning years progressed. He was told that he was found as a very young orphan that had the apparent age of five by a travelling human family on route to a small village in the Yasuragi Plains. The family cared for him while they travelled, and before leaving the village for their next destination, decided to let the village take care of the child. The villagers did not know what name to call him, and the elder of the village finally decided that they will simply call to him as a boy, until he establishes and uses his own name. Years past by as the boy learned basic skills from the villagers, such as surviving in a wilderness without resources, what plants could poison and what herbs could heal the body, how to mend tears in clothing, how to prepare and cook basic foods, and much more. One day, while visiting the elder, he spoke to him in a tiny voice, "Am I Sarako?" The elder was surprised at this sudden turn of events, and informed the villagers that his name would be Sarako - a few days later, the boy would speak of his name as Sarako Kwon, which the villagers accepted. Sarako, now considered eight years old by the village elder, was also trained in the use of many different weapons, from sword to mace, to axe, but the child could not use any of the weapons offered by villagers and trainers very well, until a sudden, unexpected situation occured. A lone human with wounds all over his body limped into the village, using a wooden spear with a chipped metal tip as a walking stick. The people in the small community rushed to see what had happened, as the elder lugged the wounded man into his hut, with Sarako following and watching with an uneasy look on his face. In the house, the man spoke to the elder, "It's too late to save me...just know that there is a upcoming disaster that will befall this village..." The elder was shocked and confused, and attempted to find out more information about this "disaster" that the man spoke of. "What do you mean by an upcoming disaster? What will happen to us?" It was too late, however, for the man had died that moment. Sarako heard the elder mumble to himself, and also took witness of the burial of the man the next day, far from the village. As the crowd left the grave to head back to the village, the elder handed Sarako the man's spear, informing him that he should try the weapon. What happened next amazed the elder. A few hours after practicing with the spear, Sarako was able to best many of the warriors of the village with amazing skill. Within a few months, when Sarako was considered nine years old by the elder, he was able to beat his combat teachers at duels with almost no difficulty. Things were going increasingly well for him, and Sarako decided to spend a few days away from the village to find some medicinal herbs. What he and the village did not expect proved to be a turning point for Sarako's life. As Sarako set up camp for the night and considered going back to the village the next day, he saw several streams of smoke rising from the direction of the village, but Sarako dismissed it as a festival the village likes to perform every one in a while. At morning, Sarako walked for a few hours until a sight that shocked him gradually came into view. As Sarako ran the remaining distance to the village, he noticed all of the buildings were destoryed, and the few bodies visible were completely torn up and ravaged, with several blood splatters on the ground - he suspected the Wraiths he heard stories about, but for now, he put the thought of vengeance aside. Sarako searched the ruins but could not find any survivors, or more bodies - he concluded that the case was hopeless, and he must set out and journey on his own. His own clothing dirtied by his small adventure, Sarako searched the wreckage of a building and found a basket with a few clean rags, and he replaced his own tatters with the clean garments. Preparing a pack with the few remaining supplies left undamaged in the ruins, Sarako silently slung the pack onto his back, and ran away from the ruins of the village, thoughts racing through his head as what to do next, and how long he could survive alone in the seemingly endless Yasuragi Plains. As Sarako wandered alone for days, he came upon a path with some people carrying bags and other possessions. He asked some of the people that looked friendly, and they informed him that a city named Azural was only a day's travel away if he followed the path. A day later, he had approached a large city that astonished him - a huge city with eight levels, the higher levels gradually getting smaller and smaller. Walking through the city, he saw many shops, and decided that he had to find a job in order to earn money and buy some more supplies and bread. Quietly walking around lost in thought, Sarako accidentally strolled right into a circle of people watching and cheering on a duel. Two men were fighting each other with swords, and were about to slash at each other, not noticing Sarako right between them. With a quick, swift movement, Sarako pulled his wooden spear from his back, blocked both strikes, and knocked the swords right out of the hands of both men. Onlookers were amazed and speechless, as a boy with the apparent age of nine single-handedly disarmed two combat veterans in a middle of a duel. The duelists looked at the boy with stunned eyes, and quickly left the crowd as they began tossing coins at Sarako. He quickly realized that dueling could earn him a fine income, and within a few months, rumors had begun to spread of the young newcomer winning and losing duels with a calm attitude against more experienced and aged fighters. Sarako lived his life in Azural, forced to duel in petty contests and public challenges to earn money. He eventually made a few friends around the lower levels of the city. One day, when Sarako refused to take part in a highly anticipated duel because of a party that his friends were hosting outside the city, many shouted at him in anger and made threats against him - Sarako simply ignored them and went to prepare for the upcoming party. He let his friend hold onto his spear until he could pick it up outside the city - his friends encouraged him to come with them outside the city immediately, but Sarako told them he had to settle some business first. A few hours later, when Sarako left the city and jogged to the camp site far from the city where his friends had set up, he saw in horror a familiar image. The camp was destroyed and burned down, all his friends were murdered, and his spear was shattered into tiny pieces - he saw that there were several arrows around the scene, and a few bodies had arrows imbedded in them. After confirming that no one survived the massacre, Sarako felt the cold memories of what happened to his village. Unable to bear the emotional burden, Sarako screamed, and for the first time he could remember, he cried. In that instant, his magical powers within him awakened; his magic immediately went out of control, obliterating everything except Sarako within a few miles in a extreme explosion, and leaving a deep crater at the camp location. As Sarako came to his senses, he realized he was holding onto a dark-silver spear that seemed to be made out of metal, but Sarako did not know what it really was, and how it came into his hands. His magic also imprinted a black pentagram onto the back of his left hand. Sarako, nervous and scared of his newfound abilities, slowly and silently walked back to Azural while lost in his thoughts. Hours later, as he approached the city, guards ran to the direction he came from, trying to investigate what had just happened several miles away. Some of the guards questioned Sarako, but he merely told them he did not know what caused it, and had nothing to do with it. Shortly after he returned to Azural, he asked a tailor to create a complete set of clothing for him, paying the tailor with nearly all his money. After he received the clothing, he put enchantments on the robe, making it easier for energy to flow within the robe, and marking it with blue lines as a byproduct of the enchantment - he also enchanted his shoes and pants, making his shoes generate less sound when walking, and making his pants resistant to wear and tear. Over the years, Sarako refined his magical skills and participated in more duels and earning himself a name with the people of Azural. As months went by, Sarako learned to make various medicines and potions and developed more powerful spells and abilities, as well as "naturally" learned how to communicate with spirits and souls many centuries and millennia ago in the past. When completely lost as to what to do next, his noticed that his spear would "speak" to him through a voice, giving cryptic advise as how to proceed, or just mock him for being weak and indecisive. Around the age of fifteen, Sarako began to think about checking on the ruins of his past home. He had not gone out of Azural except for the time his friends hosted the party far away from the city. Sarako began to prepare for the journey, creating extra batches of potions and healing salves. He wondered what the outside world was like, and what existed beyond the walls of Azural. Skills, Powers, and Abilities: Sarako is extremely skilled with using a spear, knowing many techniques that take full advantage of the spear's power, flexibility, and long reach - even with all this, Sarako is not very powerful compared to other "weapon masters". He is also somewhat talented at using other small weapons, such as wands, rods, and daggers. Sarako's skills mainly comprise of magical abilities, combined with his incredible speed and ability to cast while moving. Sarako usually casts magical projectiles that either knock back opponents or disorient them very briefly - he can even chain cast his spells in rapid succession. Sarako mainly uses his spear for defense, but on the offensive, he can use his spear to attack multiple enemies, while on the other hand, most of his magic affects a single target. If concentrating, he is able to sense other people and living beings in the area and if he focused enough, he could tell how their emotions in their minds were acting - he could not clearly identify others in this manner, just could tell that there were other living beings around. Sarako can cast supportive magic, such as spell-reflection and auto-heal, but most of his support spells drain a large amount of energy and effort to constantly re-cast and maintain. Sarako is also somewhat skilled at making various medicines, as well as very few magical items and enchantments, and the occasional Elemental Haze potion, which blankets a large area nearly instantaneously with a thick magical haze lasting for about thirty seconds that disorients and blinds everyone in the area except Sarako. One side-effect of Sarako's chain-casting is that sometimes he loses control over his magic, and energy floods the surrounding area in a misty aura, slowly exhausting and draining the landscape and living beings in the area - this has earned Sarako the nickname "Soul-Haze" by observers from this drawback and his common use of Elemental Haze potions. Sarako is usually criticized by on-lookers of his battles, since he occasionally loses his focus due to internal struggles and conflicts in his mind, and his magical spells come out as a slop of mana, instead of their usual purpose. Sarako's body naturally repels and sometimes reflects magic directed at him - the most useful part of this natural trait is that most dispelling and binding spells fail when casted on him. Although Sarako is normally attuned to no element and his magic is considered non-elemental, he takes excessive damage from fire spells. One of his infamous abilities called Warm Wind allows Sarako to near-instantaneously attune himself to different elements for about three minutes, granting his spear and offensive spells that element, as well as exposing Sarako to the element's weakness, magnified three-fold due to him not being able to fully control his own Warm Wind skill. It has also been noted that whenever Sarako shifts elemental attunements with Warm Wind, his personality changes slightly according to his attunement with an element. Perhaps the most prominent and important ability Sarako has is the ability to perform an ability called Soul Link. When Sarako casts a Soul Link, he calls upon spirits of ages past and imbues his ally with a specific spirit relating to that ally's profession, surrounding his partner with a blue-white aura and giving their vision a sky-blue tint, as well as granting them techniques thought long-lost and allowing them to perform miraculous and near-impossible feats for a few minutes. A Soul Link takes enormous amounts of energy from Sarako as well as releasing huge amounts of mana and energy into the surrounding area as a byproduct, and he usually casts Soul Links whenever there is no other option, or as a technique to assist friends that are in prolonged danger - Sarako considers his Soul Link ability to be one of his trump cards. Under normal circumstances, Sarako can only cast Soul Links on other living beings, but if under extreme stress and emotion, he is able to amplify his magic abilities to Soul Link himself. Character Equipment: Sarako always carries with him a very sharp, metal-like, dark-silver color spear made of unknown materials - whenever the spear is scratched or chipped, the spear always strangely reforms and repairs itself. At times, it seems to communicate and "speak" to him, although others usually cannot hear what is being said by the spear - rumors in the past have suspected that the spear is a manifestation of some creature's soul - more wild rumors suspect that it is Sarako's own soul in physical form; he is also seen with a pack strapped onto his back, carrying various odds and ends, including several books. Sarako's robes and pants have quite a large number of pockets, and he usually fills them with healing and defense potions, as well as a few Elemental Haze potions. Likes: Clear starry nights, cloudy afternoons, cold weather, laws and order, puzzles, isolation, peace of mind, amity, studying, apples, ice-cold drinking water, the sky. Dislikes: Bright, clear sunny days, very hot weather, rule breaking, violence, war and destruction, taking sides, living beings with selfish intentions, nearly everything related to bows and arrows, money, eating luxurious foods. Habits: Usually holds one hand behind back, likes to sit alone in empty, expansive areas. In free time, Sarako reads from some of his many books, particularly from books concerning medicine, potions, and healing magic. Sarako likes to look up and stare at the sky, whether it is sunny or cloudy, day or night. One hobby that Sarako does not like others watching him do is that he loves to make long, high jumps for fun, and to release excess energy - he also uses this trait in combat to confuse opponents and dodge attacks. Strengths: Very strong in endurance battles (very long lasting combat), quick and agile in both physical and magical combat, can attune himself to different elements, very energetic and hard to exhaust when in combat, can easily interrupt most actions that his opponents attempt. Sarako can also handle multiple opponents as if it were a one-against-one match, and is very skilled at countering surprise attacks and ambushes - masterful at defensive tactics and counterattacks. Sarako knows several tricks, skills, and abilities to disarm and incapacitate opponents. Has greater strength and power in clear, starry nights. Weaknesses: Tends to take extreme damage from physical attacks, recovers very slowly after combat, physically weak, nearly all offensive spells tend to do minor damage, unstable powers, weak-minded, hesitates in combat, always has a slight disadvantage when fighting light or dark magic users. Other: In the past, rumors have spread that Sarako was not a human, due to bypassers catching glimpses of Sarako communicating with ancient spirits, including dragons, with no difficulty. Nearly all these witnesses are dismissed as mentally sick, as they have fell into an insane state shortly after observing the event. Sarako is always under enormous pressure in his mind because of his past, but he rarely talks about it with others. |
