Haven - Draco
|
Though there are many languages and dialects spoken on Terona, these are the most important to know: Common Speech: Often known as the Human Speech, or Human Language, Common Speech is the easiest to learn and is used to most. Humans, elves, dwarves, and a variety of other races speaks this language. Common Speech is the official language of the Haven. Elvish: Elvish is used by the elves, who lives in the forest. This language was invented in the year 2025 of the Second Age, replacing Old Elvish. Elves speak Common Speech when they are around humans or attending Haven councils, but at home or if they want to discuss something privately, they speak their own language. Elvish is considerably harder to learn. Old Elvish: Old Elvish is language spoken by the first elves. There are fewer words in Old Elvish than the newer one and it is more complicated. Though it is written the same, the pronunciation of the words is different. Few still remembers this language and only elvish elders and sages still speak it. Many ancient artifacts, tombs, temples, and manuscripts are written using Old Elvish. Demonic: Demonic is similar to Old Elvish, both in speaking terms and writing terms. Many believed that the language evolved from Old Elvish. Demonic is the official language of the Necropolis and is the only language (besides Common Speech) spoken there. Because the Haven refuses to teach Demonic, very few people can read it, making the already secretive Necropolis even more secret. |
