The seven artifacts of power has not yet been found, but with each minutes the dark side is growing more powerful.

Now all that stands in their way is you. You have the power to turn the tide of the war. Now you have a decision.

Walking through the many streets of Azural, not thinking of anything in particular, Jakrah found himself walking through into one of the "slum quarters" of the city, where all the poor lived. Jakrah was merely roaming around, and when he did this he walked everywhere almost. Along the way, many beggars were asking him for money, but no one dared to touch him after they saw all the weapons he was carrying. What little soldiers that patrols this area was too busy making sure their armor was clean to deal with him. Whistling, the cloaked elf slipped quietly past them.

Jakrah decided it was time to get himself some food, so he turned into an alley that would to take him to a marketplace. The smell of food was getting stronger and the elf continued on.

Phantom rode his horse into the first level of the city. He was just finished with a recon mission on the edge of a forest and was looking for a place to stay for a few days before he has to leave again for the forest. A traveler had told him that pubs down on the first level is cheap and they offer rooms, but not as clean as what you might expect in the other levels. It doesn't really matter to Phantom, the lower part of the city is the most crowded and the best place to catch rumors floating around. For a Ranger, you never know when one of those rumors comes in handy.

But first, he needs to fill up his empty stomach. Phantom had spent the last two days on stale bread and water and he was longing for a proper meal. The pubs might have something, but it was the marketplace that offers the best of the best. Phantom got off his horse and began walking towards the nearest market.

Jakrah was walking down the streets, with some local food in his hands, before he realized the need for some ale. He quickly finished his food and walked into a nearby pub. It was crowded, with races of every kind. He managed to find a table by a corner and sat down. A young girl walked over and Jakrah ordered some ale.

A dwarf next to him was telling his friends about continuous goblin raids on Dwarven villages and trade caravans. Jakrah found this to be amusing. According to his information, goblins haven't made any major attack on Dwarven settlements for almost a month now. Still, he thought he might be able to find something useful. Smirking slightly, Jakrah continued to drink his ale and listen to the Dwarf blabbering on.

Phantom had finished off the food he bought and decided to find a room to stay for the night. He walked into a crowded pub and decided to stay here. First however, he needed something to drink and ordered some tea. All the tables were full, except the one by the corner, which was occupied by a hooded figure.

Phantom walked up to the barman and said, "Who is that by the corner?"

The barman said, "A mysterious fellow, one of them Rangers."

Phantom smiled slightly and walked over to him. Another Ranger here means that they need to be exchanging information. "You don't mind if I sit here do you?" Phantom asked.

Jakrah looked up at the hooded man who was speaking to him and asked, "Who are you? You don't look like a local or merchant. Who are you with?" He needed to make sure there wasn't a Necropolis agent sitting next to him. The man in front certainly looked suspicious. His guess would be someone from the Assassin's Guild.

Tetroneaque was quite content sitting in the shadowed corner farthest from the tavern's entrance. His back against the wall, it gave him the perfect view of everyone coming and going into the place. Not that he expected to see anyone or anything of interest in this dive, but it at least gave him a way to pass the time a bit until it was truly dark out. He had a mission to do tonight, a rather interesting one at that. He couldn't afford to let anything disrupt it either since he intended to make a little side trip during the mission.

A certain noble in the city had been deemed a necromancer by the Mage Clans. Necromancers were dangerous and needed to be taken out. How the Mage Clan came to this knowledge was not Tetroneaque's concern. His job was to kill the necromancer by any means necessary. The fact that this necromancer had a certain tome of interest to the Kitsune was a bonus. No one would care if a single book went missing when an assassination had taken place. It was the perfect opportunity and he wasn't about to pass it up. Of course if someone did notice the tome missing it might be a bit bothersome, so Tetroneaque planned to take some other valuables as well to cover his tracks.

Tetroneaque eyed an odd couple of folks in hoods. Most likely rangers. He hoped they'd both leave or go to bed before he had to leave himself. He didn't want anyone like them following him up to the seventh level where the noble lived. While the mission was for the good of the land, the locals might not take kindly to having one of their Dukes murdered in his bed. He was taken momentarily out of his thoughts when one of the serving women came over toward him.

"Are you going to order anything else? You've been nursing that drink all night." She said in a bit of an annoyed tone. Tetroneaque had indeed been nursing his single drink the whole evening. Some swill the humans tried to pass off as ale. He found its taste repugnant and his nose told him he wouldn't enjoy anything they had cooking in the back either. Yet he didn't want to draw attention to himself.

"I'll take a bowl of stew and a loaf of bread, along with another ale." He stated, tossing a silver coin to the woman. That seemed to shut her up at least as she went off to fill his order. He didn't really care if she got to it quickly or not as he didn't intend to actually eat any of it. He preferred to cook his own food and he wasn't nearly hungry enough to have to eat this human made crud they tried to pass off as food.

Tetroneaque glanced toward the window, his mask keeping his gaze hidden. He judged he still had about an hour to kill before it would be dark enough for him to move about unseen. Hopefully both those rangers would be gone or occupied by then. He was glad that neither one seemed to pay attention to him.

Phantom smiled and showed the elf his Ranger symbol. With his outfit, it was easy to mistaken him for an Assassin or a mercenary. Phantom pulled a seat from one of the other tables and sat down in front of the elf. "Its not common to see a Ranger in the city. There are always out patrolling."

Phantom felt uneasy. This fellow sitting by the far end seemed to be watching him. An Assassin? Or someone from the Mage Clans? Phantom thought to himself. Perhaps he needed to investigate this mysterious fellow to find out more.

"Its definitely good to see another Ranger," Jakrah agreed. What this Ranger was doing here was no concern to Jakrah, but at least he had companion. But what was bothering Jakrah was the figure to the far left of where he was sitting. The figure had been starting at them for awhile now and by the looks of him, he was no common folk.

Jakrah noticed that the other Ranger had noticed it as well. "What do you think he is up to? By the way, my name is Jakrah Ketoro. You are?"

Tetroneaque feigned being happy when the server came back with his food. He nodded his head toward her and muttered a thanks. He eyed the food with disdain. He loathed to sample it, but a few of the other patrons seemed to be watching him out of the corner of their eyes. Sighing inwardly he decided he'd best make an attempt at eating some of the food. He had actually finished his first ale, sipping through a hollowed out water reed he kept as a straw. It looked a bit odd, but at least he didn't have to remove his mask to drink in public. Eating was a bit trickier if he wanted to keep his mask on, but over the years he'd managed.

Since he was already in the shadows it wasn't hard to keep his face hidden as he moved his mask slightly out of the way and sent a spoonful of the stew into his mouth. He was glad that it wasn't totally unbearable. Nowhere near as good as his own cooking, but he thought he'd be able to keep it down. He tore off a few small pieces of the loaf of bread as well and ate them slowly. He finally finished off the meal and his second mug of ale. Since he'd started eating alot of the people seemed to lose interest in him. That was fine with him.

He glanced toward the window again and smiled behind his mask. It was finally late enough to go out and get to his mission.

He rose up from his seat and made his way toward the doors and stepped out into the night. It seemed most of the city had gone to bed by now. He tossed a glance over his shoulder, and seeing no one following him, he quickly made his way down the street and down a nearby alley. Once in the alley he scaled the walls and took to the roofs. A few leaps and a lot of running and he soon came to the wall that separated this level from the one above. He started scaling the wall, easily finding hand holds. This wasn't the first time he'd taken this route to remain unnoticed by the city patrols. He'd be taking a few more of this routes before the night was finished, as his target was all the way up on the seventh level of the city. After about fifteen minutes he hauled himself over the ledge and was in the second level of the city. He took a moment to catch his breath and then continued on his way. After all, he had a necromancer to execute.

"You can call me Phantom," Phantom said simply. He was too busy watching the other guy. He was a bit surprised when he rose and left. Would it be worth it too see what he was up to? Phantom was a bit bored, but on the other hand, what if it turned out to be a wild goose chase? After thinking about it for several moments, he decided to follow.

Phantom rose and said to Jakrah, "I'm going to see what that guy is up too. You stay here for now. Take this." He handed Jakrah a two way mirror, a device Rangers use to communicate with each other. With that, he left, using his dark magic to stay safely hidden.
