A strong gale started blowing shortly after midnight, kicking up dust and waking up the sleeping villagers. They got, cursing at the skies and the gods, trying to do anything they can minimize the sound of the wind so they can go back to sleep. In the midst of all this dust, a long figure walked down the dark, abandoned street. One can easily mistaken the figure for a human, but if one was too look more closely, one can see that the stranger's feet are not human at all. The feet gives away Tobi's cover, but if only those people look closer. In reality, Tobi is a fox, a Kitsune from another part of Terona. Kitsunes are not normally welcomed in human lands, but Tobi didn't care. He knew that the humans were too occupied with the Necropolis in the south and the growing goblin raids in the north. These roads are not commonly enforced, so Tobi can slip in and out quite easily. Besides his cloak and hoods hides his obvious fox-like features. And if things did really get ugly, he always have one of his little toys to help him get out of a tight situation. Tobi paused for awhile too take in the direction he was going. He was standing in the middle of the town, facing east. If he was to continue down this road, he would reach his destination by sunrise. While this road was longer, it was safer. Rangers tend to stick to the main roads and bypass these small ones that pass through "ghost" towns. Their lack of understanding in this subject was a major advantage to assassin's like Tobi, who can use these roads to enter and leave Haven territory at will. That is another reason why the Haven are losing, Tobi thought to himself. The fox sighed and continued forward. His client was getting impatient and Tobi wanted to get the job done, eager to claim his reward. He walked quietly forward, not wanting to attract any attention. But then, any noise he makes would be masked by the wind, so Tobi didn't really have to worry. Old habits and all that, thought the fox. He gave himself a smile and shook his head as he continued on. After another ten minutes, Tobi found himself outside the village and once again on the open roads. He heard a noise behind him and turned around, his short sword drawn. He let out a heavy sigh when he realized it was just a branch falling to the ground. Damn, I must be getting paranoid, he thought as he sheathed his sword. He pulled his cloak tighter around him and marched down the road, satisfied that there is no danger nearby. However he was somewhat alarmed now, and he kept up his guard. Another thirty minutes and Tobi's stomach started growling. It was then that he realized he skipped dinner. "Is it just me or am I getting old?"he muttered to himself, quite annoyed that his memory is failing him right now. He took a flask filled with a purple liquid and took a long drink from it. This drink would provide him with the energy he needed to travel another hundred miles. As he continued east, the wind started dying down and he pulled out an apple from inside his cloak and started eating. He wasn't fond of apples, but at least it was something to keep him full until morning. "I'd rather be in Kiro right now," Tobi said under his breathe and he took another bite of the apple. That is one of the bad things about being an assassin, you have to finish your work fast or you won't get the good pay. Tossing the remains of the apple away, Tobi made his way forward. (Sorry for the long post. I was bored. >.>) Edited by Tobi the Exiled, Nov 18 2008, 07:33 PM.
