Mage Clans - Kitsune
|
Tetroneaque watched the girl from a distance. She certainly looked the same as the Mage Clan agent... except her hair was a different color. Her scent was nearly identical, just different somehow. He wondered if this really was the same person. He simply contented himself to watching from the shadows for a bit as he followed her. He spotted the elvish scouts long before the girl did, their smell gave them away even though it was masked with the natural woody scent of the forest. He watched, wanting to see what skills this girl had if she was indeed the same one. He watched the attack but didn't intervene, knowing himself to be no match for four at once. He didn't call out a warning either, lest he give himself away. He was a bit startled when the girl released a blast of light, his mask shielded the worst from his eyes and the fact she wasn't facing him lessened it a bit as well. It still made him blink his eyes for a few moments to clear the spots though, the elves must have been damn near blind being so close to the focal point. That didn't stop them from launching arrows at the fleeing girl though. He watched as she nearly escaped, wincing as he saw an arrow score a lucky hit. He continued to watch her, hopping from tree branch to tree branch. She stopped for a bit and healed herself a bit, she seemed to be having a bit of trouble with the wound on her arm though. It was kind of hard to tell from his position in the tree though. It didn't seem the elves would be following any time soon so he risked breaking cover once the girl passed out. He dragged her body away, lacking the strength to simply carry her. "Why am I even bothering?" He asked himself, shaking his head. He wasn't even sure she was the same girl from the boat. There was a small game trail he took her down, making their tracks quite a bit less obvious. He did his best to mask the rest of their tracks, which wasn't easy. Soon he came to small cave that seemed to have been abandoned for awhile, as the smell of bears was weak. Which meant they likely wouldn't be bothered while resting there. He strew out some small twigs and dry leaves near the entrance to make noise if anyone approached. After all that he finally got to looking at the girl's wound. It wasn't pretty. He removed his mask to get a better look, the dim light in the cave not affecting his vision though. He grimaced at the sight of the wound and wrinkled his nose at the smell. It was obviously tainted with a poison and needed to be cleaned immediately or she might lose her whole arm. He sighed to himself again, wondering why he was being so nice today, and then started to suck the poison out. He was careful not to swallow any, as poisoning himself would only kill them both. He spit the tainted fluid out of the way. He recognized the poison as 'rotbark'. A type of tree bark that when ground up and mixed with fetid swamp water could cause quite a potent toxin, capable of paralyzing an enemy and sending them into shock. It was a nasty, but effective poison. He rarely used it as he thought it was a bit cruel, causing a lot of pain before killing the victim. He got as much of the poison out of her as he safely could and then rummaged through the ingredients he'd been gathering earlier. He knew he had the items to make an antidote to the poison. He just hoped he wouldn't be too late after all this effort on his part. He placed a rather large purple mushroom off to one side, along with some white leaves that smelled rather sweet, and some small green berries. Each was poisonous in their own right, but put together made a powerful antidote... though had a horrible taste. He pulled one of the small vials from his robe and placed a small sliver of the mushroom in it. Then squeezed the leaves of the bit of moisture they had, letting it drip into the vial. The liquid changed from clear to lavender as it contacted the fungi, the expected result. Next he added three of the berries, making sure their skin wasn't broken. He put the cork in the top of the vial and shook it vigorously for a minute or so, until the mixture changed to a vibrant orange. He popped the cork and nodded his head as the smell hit him, it smelled terrible. He pulled the unconscious girl toward him and tilted her head back as he slowly poured the mixture into her mouth. He rubbed her throat gently as he did so, making sure she swallowed the foul tasting mixture down to the last drop. He noticed her breathing started to become more even and the black color around her wound was starting to fade already, returning to its natural color. "Good, I got it into her in time." He said to himself. He reached into his robe and took out some other supplies. He still had one small vial of his special healing salve left and some of the bandages from the inn. He soaked one of the bandages with the salve and then wrapped it around her wounded arm, as it would help it heal much faster and prevent it getting infected. He was glad there wasn't anything in the wound that he needed to remove first, he hated poking around in open wounds like a surgeon. After that was taken care of he put his mask back on and went about sorting his gathered items and making more potions and poisons. After all he couldn't bring himself to simply leave the girl, and he wasn't about to waste this time just waiting for her to wake. He was glad that he had his supply of potions and poisons nearly fully restocked, he still needed to make a few more but lacked the ingredients. Hopefully he'd find the needed items on the way to his target location, but that would have to wait as he heard a soft moaning from behind him and noticed the girl was regaining consciousness. "Good you're awake. That means you won't die from the poison those elves shot you with. I was starting to worry the antidote I force fed you wasn't going to work." He said bluntly. |
